(Fu Xuan x Reader) Trouble With Divination

Part 12: D- Date!?

RECAP: A few days after Fu Xuan and the maintainer decided to restart their relationship from the ground up, as friends, Fu Xuan finds herself with and unquenchable urge to go out on a date with him. She feared it might've been too soon, but Qingque assured her with a master plan: she'd ask him out under the guise of meeting up as friends!


(Maintainer POV)

My eyes scanned over the lines of text on my phone over and over, my anxiety trying to make sure I got the details correct.

|Fu Xuan:| Dear Maintainer, I extend to you an invitation to a recreational meet with me and Qingque this weekend, in the afternoon. As it was Qingque's suggestion, she will relay the details on the day, should you come.

|You:| Sure, sounds fun. Anyone else coming?

|Fu Xuan:| (message deleted)
|Fu Xuan:| (message deleted)
|Fu Xuan:| No, it will be just us three.

|You:| Alright. I'll see you there!

|Fu Xuan:| We will rendezvous at...

...

I am currently waiting where we're supposed to meet up but, it certainly has been a while.

The sky was dark and cloudy, the humidity and my nerves causing me to sweat more than I should. 

"M- Maintainer?"

I heard a meek, wavering voice from behind me, so quiet I barely registered it. It pulled my gaze from my phone- 

"I- I'm sorry. Qingque couldn't make it. It'll be just... you and I."

She stood there, looking shorter than she ever had. The right half of her bangs were put up to the side, fixed by clips with little bows on them. The usual bunch of hair that ran over her right shoulder was braided halfway, before being tied up by a small ribbon. 

I could see so much more of her face, the obvious blush growing to her ears. Her lips were quivering and shaking off the sweat that barely hung to her chin. The bows made her look so innocent, but her attire caught me by surprise!

Is she wearing pants or not!? Well she was obviously wearing shorts, but you couldn't tell at first glance. She wore an oversized sweater, which hung below her shorts, creating the illusion of a bare Fu Xuan. Under her shorts she wore a tight pantyhose. One could only imagine how sweaty she must've been under all that. How lewd... No!

We're friends! I shouldn't be looking at her this way!

My willpower won over my lust, my hands involuntarily covering my mouth. I bit it to keep my sanity. She's the master diviner, damn it! And not to mention, I don't know what her relationship is with the general-

"M- maintainer? These clothes must look weird after all, huh..."

She took my silence as disapproval. She must've been anxious.

Not at all! You look incredibly... cute.

Her eyes widened and she looked away, glancing at the ground. Her face flushing ever redder, surely because she was nervous, wearing this kind of outfit for the first time I'm sure.

"Thank you..."

An awkward air grew between us, we couldn't bear to maintain eye contact.

W- what did you and Qingque have planned for today?

"Oh! Uhh... She was thinking of taking me sightseeing around the Luofu, since I'm not from here and, to be honest, I don't spend much time outside of work... haha."
