Angst with a Sad Ending: Captain x Ninja

Okay this was hard to write because I don't quite ship it but I hope this is close to what you wanted

Sad ending

"Captain! Come on!" Ninja shouted through the chaos in the office building.

"Captain! Where are you?!"

"Captain?"

The crackling of flames, the clattering of footsteps, and the panicked chatter of people drowned out any hope of Ninja finding Captain. Ninja was running towards an exit, assuming his love had already escaped but was proved wrong when he heard glass break. He turned his whole body around until he found where the window was broken and made his way over there.

When he did, he was shocked to see Captain hanging off the edge, with the jagged broken glass digging into his fingers. Tears pricked the corners of his eyes from the pain he was in. Ninja could only stare. His mind screamed Help Him! but his body was frozen.

It was only when he began to slip that his body decided to work. Ninja grabbed the hand that slipped off, and attempted to pull him up but it was no use. Ninja was not strong enough to lift his lover from his doom. And it's not like anyone was paying enough attention to them to help out.

And so, Ninja stood there, bent over with both arms out, holding Captain for as long as he could. Tears came flowing out as he realized that if he didn't let go, he was going to fall too. Ninja had considered it but Captain must've known what he was thinking because he shook his head.

Ninja could no longer breathe, he was expelling all his energy trying to keep Captain in his life. But they both knew how this was going to end.

"Drop me Ninja." Captain said.

"Captain! Captain I can't! I love you!" Ninja protested.

"The building is still on fire! You need to get out of here!" Captain looked at him with a serious face, "Both of us don't need to die! You can still live your life!"

"I can't live without you!"

Captain smiled sadly at that, "I'll always be in your head. I'll always be in your heart. I love you to the moon and back. I know you will miss me, but please move on from me. This doesn't have to be the end of your life."

Ninja and Captain stared at each other for a moment before Ninja began to slide forward, Captain's weight pulling him down.

"Can't- hold-" Ninja said.

Captain looked devastated as he said, "Drop me."

"I- I- " Ninja stuttered and stammered as he ran out of stamina and was forced to do what he will regret for the rest of his life.

Captain knew what was about to happen, so he flashed a smile and said, "I love you."

Ninja's hands let go soon afterward, and he ran. He ran down the stairs, away from the fire, away from the people, away from the noise. He couldn't comprehend what he'd done. But he had done it. And now his life was never gonna be the same.
