TW: Torture (whip)

"We told Soar we'd get information out of our prisoners. We need to do that."

"Cassandra, you told him we'd do that. So you go do that."

"But it's funner with you."

"More fun, not funner."

"Whatever." Cassandra walked over to where Devin stood and wrapped her arms around him. "Come on, Devin. We can torture him for information."

"Cassandra I know you want to torture them, and it's not that I don't. But they have limits."

"Fine, Huntress is still recovering from her foot, and a little bit of the gas we gave her. And she also hasn't taken the vengestone we snuck into her food very well. We could do Lloyd. Plus information about the ninja could be very helpful. We don't know much about them. Glitch would thank us for it. Maybe even forgive us for what happened to Quake."

"Alright. I see your point. But shouldn't we just let Glitch handle all the interrogating? We could bring him here and let him deal with it."

"Are you daft?" Cassandra slapped the back of Devin's head. "We can't let him come here. He'd never leave. Plus Commander would just try and take over the project."

"Alright, fine. So we do it. What do we do exactly?"

Cassandra smirked. "I have a few ideas."

While Devin and Cassandra schemed, Carrie and Lloyd prepared to sleep. They'd moved back over to their bed of pine needles, and Carrie sat resting while Lloyd moved around the room.

"Do you want me to help you?"

"No, it's ok." Lloyd was moving around some supplies they'd found in the woods. He leaned Carrie's crutch against the wall near her before moving back to the other side of the cave.

He and Carrie had gathered sticks and some stones, and Lloyd put them in two piles. It was getting colder during the time they thought was night, and they'd decided they needed a fire. They were both pretty sure they could start a fire with just sticks and stones. Who needs a lighter or matches anyway?

"Do you think Devin and Cassandra will take them away?" Carrie made conversation from her spot on the floor.

"I doubt it. They left the bed we made alone. And how could we escape with sticks and stones?"

"Well, we could attack guards with-"

"I should have known you'd have an answer." Lloyd laughed.

Carrie giggled, "Sorry."

"It's fine," He laughed again, "I've gotten used to it. I like it, you're always prepared."

She laid down on the bed and kept watching Lloyd. He continued to bustle around and move various collected items. They'd fallen into a bit of a routine. When they decided it was time for bed, Lloyd would help Carrie to their bed and he'd put away anything they'd collected or moved throughout the day. As Lloyd moved closer to the entrance of the cave, the door burst open.

Carrie screamed and Lloyd jumped back. As he did, a guard tackled him to the ground. Carrie sat up but didn't stand, no guards were coming for her, and she didn't want to worsen her ankle. Plus she knew that Lloyd would just tell her to stay. "Lloyd!" She screamed.

Devin and Cassandra walked through the doorway. Devin stood straight and tall, unafraid. Yet he seemed more reluctant than Cassandra. She looked ready and eager to do whatever it was they were going to do.
