KILL FOR YOUR LOVE.
act three.
(chapter sixty-eight, except johanna mason)
hospital ward, 75 ADD.

JUNIPER WANTED JOHANNA MASON to wake from her sedation. She didn't need her, of course, but she wanted her to be awake and sane because she had a realisation that no-one fully understood what she was going through except for Johanna Mason.
Finnick, as much as he was always there for her and was the only one who understood her, he didn't know what happened in the Capitol. And Lucy, she had no idea either. Both spewed apologies over Juniper's bedside, guilt riddled in their eyes, but neither knew what happened. No-one knew what happened.
Except Johanna Mason.
And so, once Finnick had left and Juniper dried her tears, she stared at the curtain dividing her and the woman from Seven. She didn't need to talk to Johanna. She could have gone on, found some way to acknowledge what happened and to adjust to the quick change. But she wanted to. Juniper wanted to talk to Johanna.
But the Hale woman contemplated ripping away the curtain. She was sure Johanna was just starting to sleep in the last few days of their captivity. She would need her rest and Juniper didn't want to interrupt that, but Johanna didn't sleep at all during the Quarter Quell and she could still stand on her two feet. And she had a morphling drip attached to her arm so the woman wouldn't feel or think anything.
Juniper was sure the nurse wasn't in the ward and so, she swung her legs over the frame of the bed, planting her soles onto the tiles. The strong morphling dose ceased any twinges or pokes in her ribs and so, there was no pain except dizziness as she stood up. Her entire body was weak, but she tried to ignore it as she mustered enough energy to rip away the curtain.
"Are you going to kill me in my sleep?"
The Hale woman smirked slightly as she saw Johanna Mason staring up at her, eyes narrowed. Her voice was croaky, but she was awake and there was an empty bowl on her nightstand. Bruises still littered her skin with bandages covering some of the oozing scabs, antibiotic cream being a strong smell on her. She had the morphling drug attached to the socket taped to her arm, a monitor beeping to her heart rate. It was slow and steady.
"I was contemplating it." Juniper shrugged as she sat on the side of the bed. The morphling drip in her arm tugged and so, the woman unhooked the bag off of the stand that was above her bed, holding it as she looked down at Johanna, who was staring at her amused. "Why? Do you want me to?"
"Why are you here?" Johanna sighed as she closed her eyes. She was wearing a cleaner paper robe that wasn't aged with yellow, instead being a bright white that was dotted with little blue circles. "I thought you would love to get away from me."
"I have no-one to talk to."
"Oh, really?" Johanna scoffed. "I heard you and Finnick sobbing."
"You could have joined us."
"I don't sob, Hale." Johanna opened her eyes, narrowing them at the woman.
Juniper pursed her lips before sighing, looking around, and as she did, she let everything dawn upon her. She knew she wasn't in the Capitol anymore when she was with the others, but it finally settled in as she sat next to Johanna. They weren't in the Capitol anymore. They were rescued. They were in Thirteen with the rebels. They were safe.
