The next few weeks passed faster than you could say Quidditch. With Adira and Sirius mostly made up, everything seemed to go back to normal.

She and James never talked about the night they'd shared, no matter how much James wanted to.

Adira had to spend more and more time at the Marauder's flat. Her and Sirius had to appear as a happy couple. Otherwise, their marriage would crumble.

Remus had configured her a bedroom out of his small library room. He tried offering up his bed for her but she insisted he have his own as the moon neared. Of course, Sirius made his usual offer for her to sleep in his bed with the reminder that he slept starkers. She shot a stinging hex at him.

Though, that wasn't to say Adira and Sirius didn't sleep in the same bed most of the nights she slept there.

Most nights Padfoot would scamper into her room, jump onto her bed, and cuddle into her side. Adira did always favor the dog side of him. He was so much sweeter as a dog, James often remarked he should stay one permanently.

Before they knew it, it was April. Spring break. The Spring Ball that the Lestrange's hosted. Within the next month, Adira and Sirius would be married. The days were simply counting down.

Adira woke the day of the Spring Ball with a large black dog tucked into her arms. She sighed, pushing her face further into his fur. He was usually mangy and scraggly, but she insisted Padfoot bathe if he were to spend nights in her room. It took her, Remus, and Peter to bathe the damned mutt. James guarded the door as Prongs as Padfoot attempted many times to escape. Turns out, Padfoot's hate water.

Padfoot flipped over, licking at Adira's face. She scrunched up her nose, swatting his muzzle away from her. "Don't lick me, i'll kill you." She grumbled, eyes still closed.

Padfoot, the mischief maker he was, licked her again. In response, Adira kicked him off the bed and he landed on the ground with a loud thump. "Your bed privileges are revoked." Adira said with a winning grin as she tugged the sheets up higher around her body.

"Adira!" Remus' voice shouted from beyond the closed door. "Its Spring Ball day and theres snakes at my door!"

Adira audibly groaned, sitting up in bed. She looked down to Padfoot on the floor, who looked mildly pissed off. "Go tell him i'll be out in a minute, will you?"

The dog visibly rolled his eyes and scampered over to the door, pushing it open a crack with his nose and slipped out.

Adira would be lying if she said she didn't sleep better when Padfoot was in her bed. Some night's she wouldn't sleep due to the literal demons that plagued her dreamscape. But when Padfoot was in her bed, he'd ward them off. Oddly enough, the same happened the night she'd spent with James. No nightmares. Just peaceful sleep.
