chapter 6

Present time

(Taehyung gets up from bench and wipes away the tears before heading to his car. Before he got into his car his phone rang and he took it out of his pocket and looked at the caller ID. It was from an unknown number and he sighed before attending to the call)

Tae: (hoarse voice) Hello, who is this

?? : Your well wisher...... I heard you remarried and are going to be the CEO of your father's company in two days. But in case you forgot, let me remind you, the place you are now is not yours, it is Victor's.  You are just a replacement . You will never be Victor. He was born to rule the business world but you know nothing about business. So don't take the CEO position for the future of the company. Your family has lost two precious people in less than a year, don't make it three. And yeah, I forgot one important thing, a very happy married life...... partner

(The man chuckled darkly before hanging up)

Tae: (greeted his teeth) F*cking a$$hole.......

(Taehyung went straight to a bar and drank uncontrollably. Drunk he went to his apartment as he didn't want to meet any of his family in this condition)

In Kim mansion

(None of the family members tried to call Taehyung because they knew he would be at the bar. Only two people in the world cared about him and he lost them both. It was 1:00 AM, so everyone except one was sound asleep in their respective rooms. A maid name, Sophie)

Sophie: No sir, he is not back. Yes, others are sleeping in their rooms ....... Well sir, I will not deceive you this time too.... I was born to succeed in my work......

(Not knowing that someone overheard everything, the maid spoke to someone on the phone and headed towards the room where Jungkook and his son were staying)

?? : What are you doing at the time?

(Sophie stopped in her tracks when she heard the voice and turned around)

Sophie: (gulped) I heard some noise from upstairs so I am going to see, Mr.Kim

Mr.Kim: (stern) I haven't heard anything, so go to workers quarters. Didn't you know workers can't come in after 9:00pm?

Sophie: (looking down) Sorry sir.... I won't do this again.... (left)

Mr.Kim: (in mind) She must be planning something

(He suddenly remembered what Victor had said in his last call when he went to America for business meeting with his wife)

V: Dad, everything around us seems suspicious. So we have to be careful.

(Mr. Kim stayed in the living room all night trusting no one. At 6.00 am Taehyung entered the mansion. He was sound asleep, unaware of what was happening around him, and his father called him and asked him to come to their house immediately. When he arrived, no one was awake in the house except a few maids. Upon seeing his son, Mr.Kim grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him into his room. After making sure no one overheard their conversation, Mr.Kim explained Sophie's suspicious actions)

Mr.Kim: Do you understand now why I made you marry him? Something big is happening behind us and I'm getting old so I can't protect them. They both need someone, and now they're both your responsibility. protect them….. Will you?

Tae: I will, dad….. (Mr. Kim hugs him tightly)

Mr.Kim: But don't forget to take care of yourself too. I know you will protect them, but don't forget yourself

(Taehyung came into the living room after a short chat with his dad and sat on the sofa watching some sports videos on the TV. When it was 8.30 am, all the members got up and came out of their rooms to have breakfast. Jungkook also came downstairs with his son, seeing Taehyung in the living room gave him a little confusion, but he shrugged it off and joined the others for breakfast. Taehyung didn't join the others but watched Sophie's actions the entire time)

Tae: (in mind) Whatever she was doing, her full attention was on Jungkook. I think she works for someone from what dad said. If I do something I can't find out who is behind her, but at the same time I have to protect them. What should I do? From tomorrow I am going to join our company, so I will not be able to stay with them for the whole day.....
