That night, Emma and Peter arrived back in the States, but were immediately separated, taken into different cars. Emma was taken by Desmond and Brandon to the Tower while Tony took Peter back to his apartment building, Happy driving them. And Peter was still filming on his phone. Tony reached for the phone, tilting it up towards him as Peter got insanely nervous.
"What are you doing, a little video diary?" Tony asked.
"Yeah," Peter embarrassingly murmured.
"It's alright. I'd probably do the same," Tony told him.
"I told him not to do it," Happy said from the driver's seat, "He was filming everything."
"It's okay," Tony assured.
"I'm gonna wipe that chip," Happy muttered.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey," Tony said, turning his attention back to Peter, "You know what? We should actually...We should make an alibi video for your aunt anyway. You ready?"
Peter's face lit up as Tony took off his sunglasses, revealing a badly bruised face. "Yeah, hold on," he murmured before getting his phone ready.
"We rolling?"
"An alibi? Sure."
"Get in the frame."
"Okay."
Peter held up the phone, the two of them staring into the camera as Peter nervously smiled. Utterly giddy to have Tony Stark next to him.
"Hey, May. How you doing? What are you wearing? Something skimpy, I hope," Tony said into the camera, to which Peter's smile dropped into a frown, turning back to Tony with an annoyed look. The Stark chuckled, patting Peter's shoulder, whose face now wore an uncomfortable smile. "Peter, that's inappropriate. Alright, let's start over. You can edit it."
"Mhm."
"Three, two, one..." Tony's face lit up in a smile as he talked into the camera, "Hey, May. My gosh, uh, I wanted to tell you what an incredible job your nephew did this weekend at the Stark internship retreat. Everyone was impressed."
Tony put on a solemn face while Peter offered the camera a wide-eyed, tight-lipped smile, trying to look innocent. But suddenly? they heard a loud honk.
"Come on! It's a freaking merge — I'm sorry."
"This is because you're not on Queens Boulevard," Tony said before he looked into the camera again, "See, Happy is...is hoping to get bumped up to asset management. He was Head of Security, and before that, he was just a driver."
Still driving, Happy shot Tony a sidelong glance. "That was a private conversation. I don't like joking about that. It was hard for me to talk to you about that," he said.
"No, seriously, was he snoring a bunch?" Tony asked Peter.
The boy opened his mouth to speak but couldn't because Happy slammed on the brakes, making the car screech to a stop before Peter's apartment building.
"All right. Here we are. End of the line. Whoops."
Tony laughs before turning to Peter, who looked a bit pale. "Happy? can you give us a moment?" he asked.
"You want me to leave the car?" Happy asked.
"Why don't you grab Peter's case out of the trunk," Tony told him.
Suddenly, Peter stopped filming, slowly lowering his phone down with a shocked look over him. "I can keep the suit?" he asked.
"Yes, we were just talking about it," Tony told him.
