Chapter 4- Forgiveness isn't given it's earned.

Alex's POV
Matías held my hand as we sat in the hallway of the hospital.
We were waiting on the nurse.
I was overthinking cause what if.
What if the baby's hurt? What if they don't like me? God what if I'ma bad dad? Just what if.

"Mr Erikson?" called the nurse.
"Yes ma'am" I said, getting up.
"Right this way" she said, walking into a room.
Matías' grip tightened on my hand as we walked into the room.

I sat down on the bed the nurse told me to.
As she did the checkup,she gave me a bottle of tablets.
"Please use these when u feel pain" she said. I nodded.

"Oh my, this is different than what I've seen" she said looking at the computer she held in her hand that was connected to the machine.

"Is something wrong?" asked Matías, his voice filled with worry.
The nurse shook her head. "No nothing's wrong, it's just Mr Erikson is not having a baby, he's having twins." she said, showing us the ultrasound.

Upon seeing this, Matías smiled. His eyes closed. I love the fact that he loves the babies as though they're his own.

"Would u like to know the genders  Mr Erikson?"  she asked.
I nodded, making circles on Matías' hand.
He smiled,reassuring me that I was okay.
"Mr Erikson, you're -"she started but I cut her off.
"Please just call me Alex,Mr Erikson makes me feel old" I said, sighing.
She nodded, laughing along with Matías.
"You're having a boy and a girl Alex" she said.

Matías held my hand as we approached the police station.
A male officer that looked about 35 approached us.
"Hello,how may I help you?" he asked.

"I'm here to see Angelo Simons." I stated.

"And who may you be to Mr Simons?" he asked, checking us.

"Well I - I'm his-" I stopped before I started. I couldn't get the words out. The flashbacks made tears come to my eyes. It was all too much.
The officer nodded,recognizing the situation.
"Oh, you're Alex Erikson? Mr Simons has been asking for you." the officer said. I nodded.
He led us to the visiting room. Matías' grip tightened on my hand. He looked at me,worried.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" He asked, letting go of my hand.
"I'm sure, It'll be quick. Don't worry." I said, reassuring him it's okay.

There was complete silence in the room. None of us spoke.
I decided to break the silence.
"I have something to tell you" I said, resting my hand on the table. Angelo reached out for my hand. I quickly put it back on my stomach.
He looked away. He looked different,his beard was shaved. His hair was braided. His eyes were red and eye bags were underneath them.
It hurt me to see him like this but I quickly putted the feeling aside.

"Have u gained weight?" he asked, checking me out.

"No." I said. He seemed confused.

"Suprise, you're gonna be a dad." I said, forcing a smile.

He seemed happy but also sad.
"You're pregnant?" he asked,his voice filled with confusion.

I nodded. He looked away.

"Look, I'm sorry for what I didn't. I didn't mean to.. I just wasn't in my right mind. I was high cause me and the boys hit some blunts before I came home and it was still in my system. I didn't mean to hurt you. I never did. I didn't mean to r-" he started crying before he could finish. I looked away, feeling guilty.

"If you're wondering,yes I'm keeping the babies." I said.

"Babies?" he asked,his voice filled with joy.
I nodded, smiling a little bit.

"Twins actually, it's a boy and a girl" I said.

"What are you gonna name them?" he asked,smiling.

"I was gonna thinking for the girl,we could name her Alexis and for the boy Adonis." I said.
He smiled, reassuring me that the names were perfect then his smile faded.

"Look, I'll probably forgive you but it's not gonna be easy cause forgiveness isn't given, it's earned. I know you're sorry for what you did and I know you want to be apart of their life but you're gonna have to show me that you're worthy to be their dad. I know you  want us to be happy again but that's not gonna happen you betrayed me,you hurt me and y-" I said but I was cut off.

"I know I wasn't there for you but please give me another chance,I promise I'll do better, I'll be there for yo-" he started but I cut him off.

"No Angelo, we're over and I mean it this time. You're not getting another chance. You already had too much and all the chances I gave you,you just fucked them up. I don't want you in my life but I do want u in their life cause you're their dad. You weren't there for me but you know who was? Matías was. He was there when I threw up,when I had mood swings,when I found out I was pregnant. Hell he was even there at every checkup and you weren't there. You were supposed to be there but you weren't. So don't be surprised. You'd hit me all day. I'm not gonna go through that  ever again." I said feeling tears run down my cheeks.
He looked at me,tears falling out of his red eyes.

"I understand but is there anything I can do?" he asked.

"You can come visit them when they're born and also you can tell the court the truth. The full truth and nothing but the truth" I said.

"Visiting times are over" said the speaker.

"I will,thank you for telling me." he said as we both got up.

I turned to leave but he had his arms opened. I turned around seeing him still crying. It kinda broke my heart but he already did that.

"One last hug?" he asked, smiling even though tears ran down his face. I nodded and walked into his arms. We held on to each other him holding me tight as we cried in each other's arms.

As we let go,he wiped my tears,smiling as the officers carried him away. He turned around and threw me his chain. I had a paper connected to it with a tape.

The ride home was okay. I told Matías what I was gonna name the kids and he pulled me into a really tight hug but he made sure not to hug me too hard.
I looked down at my stomach, resting my hand on it.

"Papa's here and I wanna say I'm gonna love you guys with my whole heart." I said.

"Papa #2 here, I'm gonna love you guys as though you're my own." he said, resting his hand on my stomach.
As he said this,they kicked.
He smiled as we drifted off to sleep, hugging me safely.
Yea, we're gonna give you the world.
