"mhm, so that's.. 24 minutes...mm..enough time if we run..." you mumbled to yourself as you prepped the schedule for the next race weekend.

"Buenos Dias Corazon." You looked up to see Carlos walking over to your table.

"Hey." You smiled at him as he set down two plates.

"Breakfast for you." he set your plate in front of you as you picked up your things and moved them aside.

"Mmm and how do you know I haven't already had breakfast." You teased him.

"Because I know you and once you get stuck in work you forget your own schedule." He began eating his breakfast. "Now c, mon eat with me."

You couldn't argue with him because he was right so you began eating with him.

You could feel Carlos's eyes on you the whole time, you'd feel weird about it if you weren't so comfortable with him but you were also used to his eyes being on you 24/7 being so incredibly close, you cared for Carlos deeply and you knew he did too.

You were just completely oblivious to how much he really cared for you.

"By the way, there's something I wanted to ask you." You got Carlos's attention as you finished up your breakfast.

"Yeah?" Carlos tried to ask casually hoping you hadn't noticed the way his heart skipped a beat imagining what you might have to ask him.

"Do you have anything to do tonight?" You asked him, he could see the way you pressed down the crumbs on your plate with the fork nervously.

"Uh no I don't think so...unless you tell me otherwise." He joked hoping you got the double meaning, yes you were the one in charge of his schedule but he was also hoping for something else.

You laughed. "Well, how would you feel about a date?" you proposed.

Carlos's eyes snapped up to yours with so much hope and eagerness but your eyes remained on your plate so you failed to notice this. "Uh yeah, I would love to." Carlos felt the way his cheeks grew warm with the idea.

"Really?" You looked up to him this time.

"Yeah I mean-"

"Oh my god Brie is gonna be so happy." You said before he could continue.

"Brie?" Carlos's heart sank, confused at what you were saying.

"Yeah she's one of my best friends, she's so sweet and beautiful and she's been begging for me to set her up on a date with you and I thought you'd say no but I wouldn't have asked you if I wasn't sure you'd get on with her." You finally breathed after rambling and took his hand. "Thank you for doing this, I know this doesn't necessarily mean anything but she's an amazing person." You finished.

Carlos simply stared at you, completely in shock. He didn't know how to get out of this after he'd agreed with you but he also kind of hoped you noticed the way his face dropped at the realization this date wasn't with you.

"Yeah I mean I'm not sure I'm ready for anything but a date won't hurt right." He couldn't do it. Carlos couldn't deny you after seeing how excited you looked for him to go out on a date with your friend.

Was he that stupid he'd completely read everything wrong between you? He'd spent a better half of the time he'd known you flirting with you and trying to spark something between you both which he'd thought you'd been successful in given the way you were so comfortable with him, so touchy and close but maybe you were that way with everyone?

_________

"Hey, are you okay?" You'd noticed the way Carlos seemed off after breakfast this morning, he'd been so silent and he seemed so distracted.
