You sat on a piece of scrap metal in the garage, you weren't even for how long you'd been sitting there simply staring at the car in front of you but it was enough that everyone had already left and you could tell the sun was setting as the golden hour slowly approached.
You held a wrench in your hand, spinning it around your fingers over and over again. You'd be lying if the thought of taking a piece out of the car hadn't crossed your mind. You sighed your eyes glancing over every inch of the car memorizing every inch of it in your mind.
"Take a picture it'll last longer." You practically lept out of your makeshift seat at the sudden voice breaking the long silence you had created.
"Fucking hell!" You clutched your chest right above your fast-beating heart as you recognized the familiar face.
Carlos laughed at the accidental fright he gave you. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"Carlos." You sighed getting up off the floor where you'd launched yourself.
Carlos's heart skipped a beat at the way you sighed his name. He wasn't sure if you were happy or upset to see him.
"I know I was meant to come tomorrow but I was driving by and I saw light inside so I thought I'd check in," Carlos explained himself.
"Yeah..." You forced a smile fiddling with the wrench in your hands to avoid his eyes. "yeah it's fine...It is ready after all."
"Mind if I check it out?" Carlos asked feeling awkward all of a sudden.
"All yours...literally." You laughed at yourself before mentally cringing. Why was it so awkward all of a sudden?
Carlos walked around the car and there was a weird silence around you. You could tell that although he was looking at the car his mind was somewhere else.
"Is there a problem?" You dared to break the silence after Carlos had done around 5 trips around the car already without saying a word.
"No." He sighed disappointedly which confused you. "No, there isn't but that's just the problem itself."
"What?" You were quick to ask.
"It's perfect." He tapped the hood of the car again. "There's nothing wrong with it."
"So why is that a problem?" You still failed to understand.
"Well, what'll be my reason now to text every day, to pop by and keep pestering you?" His expression remained completely serious no hint of a joke in there which made you nervous considering his words.
"I...I don't-" You struggled to find a reply.
"I don't want to stop talking to you," Carlos added stepping closer to you.
"Then don't!" You were quick to answer, frustration audible in your voice.
"But I don't want to stop seeing you either." Carlos took another step closer. It was as if you both were arguing but it was clear as to exactly what it was about.
"Well then don't!" You repeated.
"And I want to fucking kiss you." Carlos took yet another step closer and there was no longer any space left between you.
"WELL THEN-" It took you a second to fully register his words. "Wait what?" You looked up to see him, feeling the way one of his stray hairs tickled your forehead.
"I really want to kiss you," Carlos repeated, his voice lowering considerably now that he was directly in front of you, your face only inches from his.
"Then just do it." You didn't hesitate, and Carlos didn't either as you barely had a second to react before his hands cupped your face joining you together in a slow but desperate kiss.
Carlos held you close, tightly yet gently and you could physically feel the relief fill his system as you reciprocated the kiss just as passionately.
Once you'd broken the kiss you both took a second to catch your breath a goofy smile present on your lips.
"Will you go on a date with me?" Carlos asked.
You couldn't suppress the giggle that escaped you. "Hmm, I think you're meant to ask me out before kissing me."
Carlos was the one to laugh this time. "Excuse me I'm accustomed to going fast." He joked.
You rolled your eyes dramatically as your head fell back in laughter, Carlos hold was tight around your waist letting your body pull a little further back than it normally would without a worry of falling.
"You're a dork." You wrapped your arms around Carlos's neck.
"Yeah, but you still like me." He smirked proudly.
"Who said that?!" You gasped dramatically.
Carlos surprised you again by kissing you once more, it was short but still just as passionate. When he pulled away you just looked at him stunned with that stupid smile on your lips again. "I think you've made it clear." he laughed.
"Shut up and I'll go on that date with you." You huffed.
Carlos tucked a loose hair behind your ear, letting his thumb roam your cheek in a soft caress. "I'll do anything you ask me Birdy."
