Monsters

I was in the nurse's office when it happened...

...

I wonder what would've happened if I went the other way.

...

I probably would've ended up in my class where I should've been.

Then I would've been killed, instead of looking like this.

Walking to the nurse's office, I noticed that the staff were acting weird. The attendance lady was frantically typing. The general lady seemed a little off. The nurse wasn't at her window though. So, I assumed she was treating another student. I was correct. I knocked on the door and she let my in. I was in for my stomach, I was having period cramps, but I lied. I said it just hurt. When I really just wanted to skip Science class. Mr. Kowalski can wait.

Then I heard the announcements go off. Saying we were in a lockout. We never heard of the lockout drill. So me and the other kid, who was in for a busted knee, thought it was a drill. I, the other kid, who is Santiago, and the nurse waited. Five minutes later nothing happened. Now, the nurse's office is located directly near the main doors. Then we heard glass shatter.

A black creature, that seemed to be made of melting wax, walked past. The creature had long arms and legs, seemingly half melted. The main body was small and thin. You could only see one, white, tiny, eye through the black mess. Hunched over it walked with a slight limp in its right leg. It stood around 9'3 or 281.94cm.

Then more shattering as the creature grabbed and devoured the staff. But, it more absorbed the people actually. It had no mouth. I am small enough to fit in a cabinet. So I climbed onto the shelving and into a cabinet. Santiago ran into the back, for he was tall. So hiding back there was probably a better choice, as the monster can't climb through windows or vents. In the far back is a vent to the library. So he climbed through the vent.

The nurse wasn't so lucky, for she was absorbed. I watched from a crack in the cabinet. He thing can open doors, good to know. But, the nurse put up a fight, the creature still absorbed her, but it knocked into the fire alarm.

The alarm sounded and the classes immediately erupted into chaos. I could hear because I'm right below one of the Spanish Math classes. Frantic Spanish could be heard. The creature heard the commotion. So it went back through the door and headed for the stairs. I was breathing heavily. I was surprised it couldn't hear me.

The classes started coming out, because this wasn't a fire drill. They believed there was a real fire. The creature started slaughtering the children with it's weirdly shaped hands. They should've stayed inside the rooms. Santiago came out and asked to me if there really was a fire. I said no and climbed out of the cabinet.

I told him that it was probably safer outside anyway. We ran out the now smashed glass doors and headed for the parking lot. But we thought better and headed for the busses. It was near the end of school, meaning at least one bus would be outside. A bus was there, but it was tipped over.

A monster, sitting on top of it, scanning for people. It looked like the creature from earlier. Then I realized. The area was deserted. The after school club from the other school. There were some kids left. But they were running, about to be taken. Then I looked around. There was these black creatures everywhere. Chasing people or absorbing something.

The one's that weren't busy turned to us. Santiago had stepped on a twig. A very loud and big twig. They started running towards us. Santiago ran back inside, while I just stood there. Looking up at the giant beings of melting wax. I was then absorbed.

But there was a light, a really bright red light, and a really bright white light. I reached for the red on, I don't know why, but I did. Grabbed ahold of a red, really bright, piece of paper. I opened it. The find the writing:

  Second chance

I then woke up on the ground. I raised my hands to my face, and my eye widened.

...

I was one of them.
