The Next Day
Ren eagerly got out of his bee sheets to meet the day. He got ready and immediately started to do his daily studies before going to the gardens, as he didn't want to get lashed again. He read, wrote, and thought. He repeated that process through a few books and he was finally finished. He realized that it was now 1:30 so he decided to go and find his mother and then leaves to go see his new friend.
He got up from his willow desk and made his way to the door. He opened it to see the empty corridor that lead to different rooms and the main hallway, which held his mother's chambers.
He walked out of his room and made his way toward the main hallway which was filled with guards for some strange reason. Today the guards were double the amount they would have on a normal day, but Ren decided to ignore it.
"Mother! Can I come in?" the young ravenette requested
"Yes, you may, Ren" his mother gracefully replied.
He opened the door and walked in and closed the door behind him with a smile on his face. "Mother! Mother! I have a new friend!" he spoke with ecstasy and pure joy. "He has brown hair and brown eyes and he wears orange headphones! His name is Yoh!" he declared with a bright smile.
She was quite happy to see him smile so brightly because of his friend but she then realized something. "Ren, how exactly are you seeing this new friend of yours?" she enquired cautiously.
"I snuck out through a hole in the wall!" Ren stated not knowing if there would be any circumstances to deal with.
"I'm not going to tell you to stop seeing him, but, you must be careful not to get caught. Or else your father will punish you," she said with great sorrow. "Do you understand my dear?"
"Yes, Mother! I promise I won't get caught!" he said enthusiastically. "I'm going to meet him now, I love you, Mommy!" he hugged her and waited for an I love you back. (just like me T^T)
"Yes darling, I love you too" she replied, giving Ren a very long very tight hug.
"Goodbye Ren, make sure no one follows you!" his mother warned.
"Yes, Mother! I promise! I'm leaving now, goodbye." he separates from the hug but not before stealing a few more moments of his Mother's hugs.
He left his mother's chambers and went into his bedroom, taking something from his desk, while waiting for the guards to leave. And as the last one went on lunch break, Ren pounced out of his window and runs off to the crack in the fence-like wall.
He began running down the road to get to the grove of trees and flowers. Clutching his gift for his new friend. As he entered through the trees he saw the familiar brown hair and orange headphones. He made his way to Yoh greeting him.
"Yoh! I'm back! And I brought something for you." Ren stated as he held the mysterious gift behind his back.
"Really?! That's funny because I also got you a present!" he laughed and held out his present for Ren to see. It was a beautiful pendant, which had a square orange gem in the middle with a white bow on top, and smaller gems seeming to hold the bow and square gem pieces together.
(This is Yoh's pendant gift to Ren)
"It's so pretty! Are you sure I can have it?" Ren asked, now worried that his gift wouldn't be as pretty.
"Of course, you can have it! I hand-picked it from the best shop in town after all!" Yoh replied with delight as it seemed that Ren liked his gift.
"Really?"
"Really!"
"..Okay..."
Ren took the pendant and then handed his gift to Yoh. It was also a pendant but it was a blue sapphire pendant, and very sleek.
(This is Ren's pendant gift to Yoh) ((I KNOW CLICHÉ BUT IDC))
"Mine doesn't look as pretty as yours, but I snuck into the treasury for it so if they found out my dad wouldn't punish me too badly. And technically it belongs to me so I can do whatever I want with it!" Ren nervously said.
"Haha I guess so, I hope he doesn't find out tho. It's a really pretty pendant, I love it. Thanks, Ren."
"You're welcome, Yoh," Ren said as he smiled.
They continued talking about random things like the clouds and their different shapes, down to the scents of the flowers. They talked and played and talked until it was time to part ways.
"I have to go again before it gets too late. Bye, Yoh! It was nice meeting you today."
"Yeah, me too. See you tomorrow?"
He smiled and said
"Tomorrow."
And just like that, they parted ways.
°•~TIME SKIP~•°
It's been two years since that encounter, they are both now nine years old but something unexpected happened today. Ren's father decided to move to China. Which was unexpected but he explained that he
wanted their pandas and so it was planned. Before they left, Ren ran out of his room window. (Dont ask how) And he ran to the grove —that's what they called it— and saw Yoh was smelling other flowers at the far end of the grove. He ran and then reached his friend.
"Yoh! My father is moving us to China because of the pandas! He wants one as a pet!" Ren shouted between pants.
"...What!? But that's not fair! He'll kill all of his pandas anyways."
"I know but I can't say that to his face, I'd be locked up and tortured."
" ... That's true... I guess it can't be helped,"
"Yoh, I have to leave, but just know that promise I won't forget you! Okay? Promise me that you ain't forget me?"
"I promise won't forget you, but keep your end of the bargain!"
Ren laughed and even though it was a sad laugh it was a pleasant sound. (Again, don't ask)
