Chapter 2: Calm Before The Storm

CASSIDY'S POV

Matapos kaming mag-ayos ng mga armas ay magkakasama kaming bumaba sa kusina.

"Do we need to barricade your door like ours?" tanong ni Roman. Inabutan siya ng cup ramen ni Lovely kaya hinila niya ito paupo sa kaniyang kandungan atsaka ginawaran ng isang magaang halik sa labi.

"No need. That will serve as our escape route. We'll check the perimeters later, mga pwedeng daanan and such." sagot naman ni Mikee. Tahimik lamang akong nag-iisip sa isang tabi habang abala sila sa pag-uusap ng mga magiging plano namin.

"I still don't get it." napatingin kaming lahat kay Lovely dahil sa isinambit niya.

"Why do we need to prepare so much? It's not like may papatay satin or whatsoever. Wala lang namang batas but we still have our conscience." dugtong niya pa.

"Power blinds conscience, Lovely. Ngayong ganito ang lagay ng ating bansa, a lot of people will try to take over. They will try to take control. That's the sad reality of life. At the end of the day, we the superior humans, are still animals. Hungry for dominance, greedy for wealth." sambit ni Mikee. Mariin ko lamang silang tinitignan, trying to process everything.

"But, kalmado naman lahat ah. I mean aside from the crimes that we witnessed from the members of Concilium, ay wala namang ibang nangyayari ah." sambit niya pang muli habang pinaglalaruan niya ang kaniyang mga daliri.

"Wala pa. But later on, as everything sinks in with everyone, their animal instincts will arise. They will try to take down those they hate, they envy, and they loathe. Those shouts of panic you heard earlier will turn into maniacal laughs. The peaceful country of Hanses will turn into a bloody battle ground." sambit ko naman.

"But its not like we did anything bad to anyone. Wala naman sigurong magtatangka satin." she said.

"But how sure are you that no one wants us dead?" natahimik ang hapag dahil sa sinabi ko.

Cause I'm right. Wala kaming ginagawang masama pero sigurado ako na maraming tao ang may ayaw samin, especially to me. I am a consistent honor student and a scholar sa isang prestigious college near us, the same goes with all of them. Kaya kami laging magkakasama ay dahil we are often getting bullied by those rich brats who believe that we don't belong in their egoistic world. 

Nabasag ang katahimikan na bumabalot sa amin nang tumikhim si Roman.

"So, what's the plan?" tanong niya to break the ice that's surrounding us. 

"We'll stay at this house for the mean time. We have stocks of food that will hopefully satiate us for a month. Sa mga susunod na araw, we'll try to barricade the house. We'll also take turns sa pagbabantay." malamig na sambit ko habang tinitingnan sila sa mga mata.

"And one more thing... Don't die." muli ko pang sambit bago tumayo at muling dumiretso sa kwarto ko.

Binuksan ko ang PC ko at inilagay sa kasalukuyan kong nilalarong FPS game. Buti na lang ay mayroon pa ring internet connection sa kabila ng kaguluhan ngunit alam kong hindi rin ito magtatagal kaya susulitin ko na.
