Waking up in a strange bed never was fun to Lilac.
The morning was rather awkward as Lilac had never shared a room with others before.
There were four others. Lilac could remember Sage Jones, Galea Clearwater and Helen Crowns, the fourth one she somehow forgot, but they hadn't talked a lot, so."So er... you're a muggleborn?" Sage Jones asked, masking her curiosity with disgust. Her long blonde hair hung loosely while she was busy with braiding one side of it.
"If so, so what's up with it?" Lilac decided to be indifferent to it.
Clearwater looked at the conversation, "Is it true that you're a muggleborn?" She asked while she straightened her clothes.
"Of course she's not." The fourth— Lin said, "Theres simply no way. I wouldn't want to share a room with that vermin."
"But muggleborns aren't vermin." Lilac crossed her arms, "What have they ever done to you?"
"They exist." Lin shot back with a sneer.
The others laughed as if it was funny, Lilac just shook her head in disappointment. "You're being unreasonable, but ok." She finished getting ready and grabbed the book she was reading. With that she walked down to the great hall where there was supposed to be breakfast.
When Lilac walked she wondered how she wasn't going to get lost. Eventually she saw someone she knew.
"Malfoy, right?" She walked up to the blonde."Yes, what do you want?" Malfoy asked in a mean voice.
"I don't want to get lost." Lilac shrugged, "Can you help me get to the great hall?"
Malfoy huffed but didn't say no, "Don't keep asking me questions." He said.
Lilac had food in the great hall. The head of house handed out timetables and Lilac wondered how she was going to walk to class. She really needed a map. Her book didn't help as it only made her want to postpone the issues so she could read it.
She got up and looked around for any other first years. It was harder to guess who was first year now that the robes had the house colours on them.
Suddenly she recognised Ginny as she walked up to her in the entrance hall.
"It's a shame you're not in Gryffindor." Ginny said as she stood next to Lilac of to the side.
"Yeah..." Lilac ignored a few stares.
"Maybe you could be resorted?" Ginny guessed, "It might be that the hat made a mistake."
Lilac hugged the book she held against her chest. "I don't know, I might disturb the teachers with something like that."
In truth she thought only the first years so far hadn't been the best, the rest of the people could pass as ok."Nonsense," Ginny shook her head, "There's no way they will mind, in no time you'll be in Ravenclaw, or better yet, Gryffindor!!"
Lilac didn't understand what exactly was better about any of the houses, in the end it was almost the same as the other. Looking at it objectively, that is."Why are you talking to a snake?" A red haired boy glared at Lilac as he walked up to her and Ginny.
Lilac glanced at him and then the boy who trotted after the first one. This boy had a face she vaguely seemed to know. Black hair and round glasses...?"Oh come on Ron, she's a muggle born, how can she really be a snake?" Ginny crossed her arms, "I'm sure the hat was just wrong with the sorting."
Lilac didn't make her frown visible, how could one decide the first part; Were was the evidence that so much people would be evil, or that all muggle born would be kind? How could you just stereotype this and so strongly believe it yet when asked stumble over your words?
