The Slytherin notice board held many interesting things. What was the thing that caught many eyes today, was a lilac coloured parchment, informing them of a dualing club.As she saw this, Lilac burst out in laughter, "He's going to teach us...?" She referred to Lockhart. The professor couldn't do one spell, and he decided to teach kids how to win a fight between wizards? How?
"Hey, maybe he's got some actual hidden talent," Tyran shrugged, "I mean, mum would have a reason for fawning over him, right?"
Shane laughed at that, joining Lilac in shit talking the professor.
Of course they had to go. It would only be hilarious to see this.
The three walked with some other first years. After Colin Creevy got petrified, they didn't dare walking in small numbers. Lilac had nothing against this, she didn't mind some company to walk with from time to time.
Once they made their way towards the great hall one evening, the DADA professor clumsily climbed onto the stage accompanied by non other than professor Snape. Lockhart waved his arm for silence and called out, "Gather round, Gather round! Can everybody see me? Excellent.
"Now professor Dumbledore has granted me permission to start this little dualing club, to train you all up in case you ever need to defend yourselves as I have done on countless occasions. —for full details, see my published works." Lilac rolled her eyes, she didn't like the Professor when he bragged like that.
"Let me introduce my assistant professor Snape. He tells me he knows a tiny little bit about duelling himself and has sportingly agreed to help me with a short demonstration before we begin.""Blah blah blah..." Tyron complained at the long introduction, Lilac couldn't help but laugh slightly as she agreed with the... statement.
"Now I don't want any of you youngsters to worry — you'll have your potions master when I'm through with him, never fear!" Lockhart went on, making the three laugh a little.
Snape's upper lip curled slightly. Lilac saw Lockhart still smiling and wondered if he really was that dim. If Snape had been looking at her like that, she'd run, hide and fear she'd never seee the light of day ever again.Lockhart and Snape turned to face each other and bowed; or Lockhart did and Snape nodded his head curtly.
Then both their wands were raised like swords before them.
"As you can see we are holding our wands in the accepted combative position." Lockhart told the group of silent students. "On the count of three, we will cast our first spells. Neither of us will be aiming to kill, of course.""Sad," Shane commented while Lilac looked at the two teachers in curiosity. Snape looked like he was about to kill though...
"One- two- three-" both swung their wands up and over their shoulders. Snape cried, "Expelliarmus!" And a dash of red light shot out of his wand, knocking Lockhart from his feet. Lilac laughed as the professor landed behind the stage, smashed into the wall and slit down it to sprawl on the floor.
Some Slytherin people cheered, including Tyran while Shane laughed a little along Lilac.
"Do you think he'll be okay?" Luna made her appearance."Who cares?" Tyran and Shane shrugged it off while Lilac imagined their new teacher. Anything would be better than Lockhart.
Professor Lockhart got up, his wavy hair in disarray. "Well there you have it," he climbed on the stage once more, "That was a disarming charm —As you see, I've lost my wand— ah thank you miss Brown. Yes, an excellent idea to show them that, but if you don't mind me saying so, it was very obvious what you were about to do. If I had wanted to stop you it would have been only to easy. However, I felt it could be instructive to let them see..."
Lilac stepped back when she noticed the murderous look Snape gave Lockhart. Lockhart saw this as well because he said, "Enough demonstrating! I'm going to come amongst you now and put you all into pairs. Professor Snape if you'd like to help me..."
They moved trough the crowd, but then Snape reached the curious three Gryffindors. Lilac knew by now that Harry Potter had two friends. Ron Weasley and Harry Potter stood with their friend who Lilac didn't know yet (something with an H, was it?), in front of Snape.
"Time to split up the dream team, I think." Snape sneered at them. Lilac didn't like Snape she decided as he seemed to have some personal hatred for Potter or something. "Weasley you can partner with Finnigan. Potter—" Potter moved towards the third friend, "I don't think so," Snape disagreed, smiling coldly.
