Lilac threw her trunk on her bed and opened it, not bothering to unpack her clothes and only grabbing the books she wanted. Suddenly she paused. How?
"Mother fucker." She mumbled before she grinned and grabbed the black book. How'd it get there?

She opened the book and as soon as she did, Tom Riddle appeared, "Surprise." He said before he looked around, "Thought I might as well do something interesting this Christmas break."

"Awesome." Lilac couldn't stop smiling but tried to be less interested in this than she was.

"Lilac! I'm leaving!" Lilac's mom called up.

"Okay, bye!" Lilac called back, not bothering to go downstairs. Her mother wouldn't wait for her to get there anyway.

"Your mother is leaving already?" Tom asked as he glanced at the door of Lilac's room.

"Yeah, my parents are constantly busy with stuff." Lilac shrugged it off before she turned to Tom again, "How about I show you around?"

Lilac showed him a few spots she liked about the house. "This is the library." Lilac gestured to the amount of books which didn't even fit on the shelves anymore, "Mom and dad want to make a second one... but they haven't found the time." She closed the door and walked back upstairs as the tour could only get boring now.

"What's up there?" Tom asked as he pointed up the attic.

"I dunno, junk?" Lilac shrugged, "Maybe a few old toys and the Christmas decorations my parents didn't put up again."

Tom raised his eyebrow as he turned to Lilac, "It's really bothering you, huh?"

Quickly Lilac grabbed the rope wich pulled down the ladder to the attic, "How about we take a look?" She changed the subject.
The attic was big, it was shaped like a triangle because of the roof. Lilac gestured to the boxes, "Like I said, junk."

"Have you ever looked around?" Tom asked, "Looks like important stuff over there."

Lilac looked at the dead rat he pointed at, "I see what you mean, but... why must you..."

"Not that," Tom rolled his eyes, "The file it's lying on."

"Oh." Lilac climbed over a chair to reach the file. She pushed the rat away with her foot before she grabbed the file in her hands, "Let's see what secrets my parents hold." She joked before she opened it. Immediately her face fell.

"What's in it?" Tom asked as he plopped away before he apppeared next to her, looking over her shoulder at the file.
With a frown he grabbed it from Lilac's hands and read trough it again and again.

"I'm adopted?" Lilac asked out loud before she turned to Tom, practically pushing the file in his face, "It was misspelled, right?"

Tom gave her a sorry look, handing her the file again. Once more Lilac read trough the file. It was a bunch of official stuff, what orphanage she was from, blah blah blah. She huffed and threw the file on the floor.

"So, that explains how your in Slytherin." Tom thought about it, "I wonder how the hat knew."

Lilac sighed and walked back out of the attic, "I'm gonna get some fresh air." She told Tom.

After a long walk, Lilac got back home and made food for herself. Her father came running into the house as he called grabbed some papers from his office which he had forgotten, and got back out.
"Nice to see you too, love you, have a nice day." Lilac mumbled to nobody in particular once the front door slammed shut again. When she was done with eating dinner she cleaned up and thought about going back to the attic. Maybe there was more information she could find. She wouldn't mind figuring out who her real parents were.
