When I wake up, I look at the young man next to me only to find that he was already...staring. I quickly face forward, trying to act as if I hadn't caught him, but he apologizes anyway.
"I'm sorry for looking at you so intently, but you're just s-so...", he angles his head in front of my face so he can see me better, and I blush. "Beautiful," he whispers.
"Umm, thanks?" I say as I stumble for the right words. This guy is freaking me out. Now I really look at him.
With jet-black hair and stormy dark blue eyes, he strikes me as handsome. REALLY handsome, in fact. Wait. Black hair? Blue eyes? He resembles somewhat like him. But since I have a hazy memory, I can't compare their features right now, I don't remember enough... Shaking my head silently, I mentally scold myself for even thinking about that right now.
"No need to thank me, its true. Oh, I didn't introduce myself, I'm -", he gets interrupted by the screech of train tracks. We're here.
"Oh, this is it, we're here," I mumble, dazed by his voice. It sounds familiar, like his voice, only gentler... "Uh, I've got to get going. Here's my number?"
I hurry and fish a piece of paper from my tote and scrawl my number on it. "Here, call me, maybe we can talk later," I smile, but I'm still confused at what I'm doing. This isn't me... Who is it?
"Thanks, Mai," he says, while giving my hand a small shake.
"No prob, bye." I smile again, and take my exit.
As soon as I get outside, I'm surrounded by the unfamiliarity of busy streets filled with cars and people. So this is Vegas. I look around the platform, looking for my aunt until I find her with her oversized neon yellow raincoat, like an elementary patrol.
"Aunt Lisa, over here," I shout over the murmur of people. She glances in my direction and smiles, making her way over. Time to get ready. I prepare myself for a strong embrace, just in time to see her neon-covered arms wrap themselves around me.
"How's my favorite niece?", she asks, still squeezing the life outta me. I try to remove her hands from behind my shoulders.
"Ack, f-fine but I'd be better if I could breathe," I manage to say when she finally let's her chokehold go.
"So. Here are the keys to your house, your car, and your extra-emergency card for any hotel, which includes expenses," my aunt Lisa reminds me. For the 100th time.
"Yes, okay thanks. So are we good? And you can let go of the keys, I have them." I respond.
"Oh, right," she says sheepishly. "So call me if you need anything."
I nod and look at the keys in my hand. The keys for my future. I wonder what kind of car, Lisa wouldn't tell me. I raise the car keys and press the blinker. I'm startled when a brand new Porsches' lights flare on in the same rhythm of the keys in my hand. Holy smoked Pokies, that's my car!? Turning to look at my aunt, I shake my head in shock. She's smiling.
"Good luck," she says waving goodbye. "Visit me on Monday!" And with that she vanishes. (Or more like she turns and walks away.)I slowly walk over to the new car, not beleiving it when the car key fits in this car's keyhole, when I remember something: When I was shaking hands with that handsome guy he said my name, but... I never told him what it was.
Well... Looks like my car isn't going to be the only wild ride...
