Mai's P.O.V.
Japan. Hm. Seems smaller than I remembered. But still beautiful. The memories. (A/N THOSE MEMORIES THO lol sorry, had to add that in)
I walk along the street that I had lived on. Honestly, I missed the small apartment that I'd taken residence those few years ago. Compared to the large, (and admittedly scary) house Lisa provided for me, the apartment was more cozier. Like home.
Gene had left to go do... something, so I was alone with my thoughts as I went for this long stroll. I couldn't wait to see the house Gene had found for me. Of course, my aunt had to approve, and I had no say in the matter. With a sigh, I kicked a nearby pebble in the sand.
Wait. Sand? Looking around, I smiled. The beach. But I had only an hour left of sightseeing, so I continued to march on, oblivious of the small crowd that was stalking me.
"Mai?!"
I looked around, but couldn't find the source of the voice. Shrugging, I shake the lingering feeling of being watched. Nearby, behind some well-placed bushes, a silent, but loud redhead slapped a brown-haired man.
"Shut up, you fool. Of course it's her, but the question now is 'Why?' "
Gene's P.O.V.
I wonder what Mai's doing.
...
I wonder what she's wearing.
...
I wonder if -
"Hey, Gene. Mind helping me with these bags?" A deep voice caused him to look up.
"Yeah, anything for you, Dad."
The old man simply nodded his head, grabbed one of the boxes of my luggage, and carried it to the house in Japan I had bought to be closer to Mai. For... safety reasons. (A/N *Eye roll*)
And the thing is, my father hasn't met Mai yet. Neither has my over-exuberant mother, thankfully. All they know is that the girl helping us is an old friend Naru and Lin had met during their stay here from a few years ago. I also explained the whole spirit guide situation with Mai, because it wasn't necessary to leave my parents clueless, as they could assist us greatly. Other than that, they're completely in the loop. Well, as much in the loop as you can be with that much withheld information.
I sigh, grab the last three cases, and shuffle to my new house.
No P.O.V. (A/N With SPR, if you figured it out by now.)
Masako sighed. These fumbling fools knew nothing of Gene and Kazuya's predicament. That's the only reason Mai was here, and not her. But then again, they don't know much anyway, as stated in her own mind. Masako adjusted her kimono sleeve before coughing behind it.
"Ahem. So, as we all should have figured out by now, Mai Taniyama is back in Japan. Why, I will tell you accordingly."
At this, everyone in SPR widened their eyes.
John was the first to speak. "Masako, are you implying...?"
"If you mean that I had already known, then yes." She replied coolly.
Ayako stuttered. "But - why were you informed and not us?" The red-head's eyes were hurt, and Masako felt a small pang of guilt.
Then she shook her head as if dismissing the thought, and cleared her throat again. "As Mai's closest friend before she left for America, I was told she would be coming back, for comfort purposes." It was true. Mai and Masako had bonded a little after Oliver and Gene had left to England, and Mai had been going through that depression. But, still, Masako firmly believed that Oliver could develop feelings for her, he just was too engrossed with his other feelings for Mai that he didn't notice. It was hard for Masako to watch her best friend suffer the consequences of loving Naru, when she too loved him, if not more...
