"Don't let him rile you up."
"We're just trading punches. He's watching the clock and waiting for his bail to be posted."
You, Rossi, and Derek meet in the main room to see if Spencer found out anything more about the partner.
"Do you have something?"
"One day, the partner wrote, 'I feel like such an outsider. No one understands me. I watch them chase their little spawns with the same old conversations. Nothing stimulates me'."
"It sounds like a party with kids, and somebody was not happy to be there."
"This is it. It's buried in a later entry, but he's talking about the first time they met."
Derek takes the papers and heads back to Will who doesn't react to his presence.
"I looked across the room, and everything changed. The only spark in my day. It feels so good, so free, so right," Derek reads. "You moved here six months ago. You met him sometime after that, didn't you?"
Will looks down to avoid Derek's eyes, and you get another image of Will and his partner. This time, they're both at a community barbecue like a town get-together. Will and his partner don't know each other, but this is where they met for the first time.
"Derek, he and his partner met at a barbecue. Like a town get-together or something."
"Does a barbecue ring a bell? You're new to town and attend a local gathering where you meet him, don't you?" Will looks at Derek with a deadly look, but Derek doesn't stop. "You know what you are? You're lost. I think you've been running from yourself your entire life, trying to disappear."
"Did I say something that upset you?" Will patronizes him.
"What'd you think you were gonna do, man? You think you'd move here and all your little urges would go away? No, you find another posh little neighborhood, and you think it might make you feel a little better about yourself? Make you feel whole and more complete? It didn't work too well, though, did it? Nah, nothing seems to make William happy, not even his beautiful wife and daughter. Then you wake up one day, and there he is, somebody just as sick and pathetic as you are. That's when your whole world changes."
"Is all this about that black comment?"
"Do you really think that we're the same because of our skin color? That's all we have in common. You hurt innocent people. I don't. You're not even a man."
"Is that a fact?" Will asks, getting angrier.
"That is a fact."
"If you had anything, I'd be in a cell by now."
"You will be."
Derek and Rossi leave to let Will stew in his feelings, and you all meet in the main room to discuss more.
"Will and his partner met at a town barbecue. Spencer, we need to figure out where that party was."
"Let's review one more time. I'm a serial killer writing to my partner. Why do I keep a secret blog?" Derek asks, trying to get into Will's mind.
"It's a safe way to relive your crimes. No one ever sees you together and no one overhears you talking. I'd buy all that."
"It sounds like they take turns surprising each other. Listen to this. 'I love the challenges. The timing is always perfect. Thanks for tonight. It was tough, but I figured it out. Nothing was gonna keep me away'," Spencer reads.
"What are you thinking?" Rossi asks.
"They never write about a time. So, how did they know when to meet?"
