I wake up to my alarm I set on my clock last night. I sit up slowly, slamming my alarm off. I sigh and get out of bed. I had to get up early because I had to walk to school. I get ready, grabbing only a banana before I leave. I had my schedule in my pocket for when I get there. I was wearing a simple outfit, a maroon colored hoodie with flared jeans. My backpack with me and my hair down around my face, the waves of my hair perfectly waved.
I walk for about 15 minutes before I arrive, when I see how many kids flood in my stomach drops. I begin to get really nervous, my stomach in a knot as I walk inside. The stairs were immediately there when you walk in, and straight ahead was where I needed to be. Whispers appeared as I walk by groups of kids. I ignore them, pulling out my schedule to find my class.
I notice the time, and realize class was 3 minutes from starting. I walk to my class, it was history first. I walk in nervously, kids giving me weird stares as I find a seat. I sit in the back against the wall so people wouldn't stare. I set my bag down, the bell rings shortly after. I sit comfortably in my seat, I wasn't surrounded by kids. There was only two empty seats.
An empty desk and another with a name on it, but I couldn't read it. The writing was small and sharp but hard to read. A few minutes after the bell rang, the door swings open and in walks a very tall kid. His hair is funky and black, and I notice he has makeup on. I think he looks a bit weird at first, but remind myself not to judge. The teacher looks disappointed and kids around me snicker at this boy.
"Late again. Sit down." The teacher shoos him away and the boy walks shamefully down to my area. He must be the one with the small writing. He lifts his head a little as he passes me, tears form in his eyes as the kids snicker when he walks. My heart immediately drops, and I realize they're laughing at him.
He sits down, setting his bag down under his chair. My heart yurns to speak to him, do anything. He covers his face and the teachers quiets the class, beginning to explain things. "Oh right, we have a new student today. Please come up, now young lady." My heart starts beating, I want to ask the boy if he's okay but I have no time.
I walk up to the front, and the teacher tells me his name. I feel so nauseous standing up here in front of all these kids. And that boy, god I feel horrible for him. If only I didn't have to do this. "My name is Mr. Schdmit. Please introduce yourself." I look to the class, the boys giving me loving eyes and the girls glaring at my existence.
I nervously speak, trying not to embarrass myself. Though my face was already hotter than the sun. "Hello, I'm Lena. I'm new in town and I like making new friends." I watch as the boy with funky hair and makeup watches me, tears are gently streaming down his flawless face. His gaze is soft in admiration. His skin is soft looking and pale as well and I notice his breathing calm while we make eye contact.
"Well thank you Lena, Welcome to this school. You may sit now." I walk back, keeping my head down. I sit down and the boy looks away. He's still crying but he puts his hands infront of his face hiding his emotions from me. I feel terrible for this boy, he clearly has no friends here. So I decide to take my first risk. I lean over a bit to him.
"Hey, are you okay?" I whisper. He looks to me, his makeup surprisingly still in tact. His smile is fake and I can see that right away. "Yeah I'm okay." He whispers back, though I know he's lying so I can't leave him alone now, he's clearly scared of people here. "No you're not, you can tell me it's alright. I'm not going to judge you."
His face lightens up, a little smile tugs at the edges of his lips. He's kind of pretty. "You aren't?" He asks, his whisper shakey and leery. I snicker a little as I watch him smile bigger from this action. "No of course not silly. I'm not mean, infact I'm the complete opposite." His big smile slowly appears, not fake anymore.
