"And yeah, that's about it," Zoe says, shrugging her shoulders. Well more like only one. Her dark hazel eyes scanned the room as she studied all 3 of our reactions.

Well, that was one hell of a story

I looked over to Ymir to see her holding back tears. Ymir has always been a very sensitive person, she used to even cry whenever we would pass by hungry stray cats on the side of the road. Always telling me how she will come back here the next day and feed them.

"Does it hurt a lot?" Ymir asked, sniffling as she fought the congestion in her nose.

"What hurts a lot?" Zoe asked, tilting her head in genuine confusion.

"Your arm," I interjected, leaning against a nearby wall.

"Oh, this?" Zoe said as she casually moved her arm, but at that specific moment, a hint of pain flashed across her face. "It doesn't hurt at all," she replied with a smile, masking the crack in her voice.

Maverick continued to eye Zoe not saying a word, suddenly his tall lean body straightened up in the chair as he fixed his posture. I didn't notice before, I was too caught up listening to the other two, but he had been so hunched over just so that he could maintain eye contact with Zoe the whole time as she spoke.

"Ugh... What am I going to do with you guys" Maverick sighed, rubbing his temples with his hands.

'Guys?' Why are we getting dragged into this? It was you who got us involved in this mess... unless there were people other than us 'guys' that he had been dealing with.

He stood up as he turned his view from Zoe to Ymir and I. He just glanced over at us as if he had forgotten why he got up in the first place. Silence, the uncomfortable kind. The type where you just want to speak to break it but know it'll make it even more awkward. All that could be heard was Zoe's blanket shuffling in between her fingers on her right hand.

"Let's go you two" Maverick finally spoke as he stretched his hands over his head, heading toward the door.

His gun shuffled under his suit. The left side. Why am I even thinking about this, I already knew from the start...

"Wait, where are you guys going??" Zoe said, moving the blanket away from her body, looking at us with curious eyes.

Maverick stopped in his place and turned around to face her, "Not you," he declared in a simple tone, his face however, said otherwise. His eyes stared into Zoe's assertively letting her know to not leave her bed. "Your parents should be here soon so you'll have people to accompany you." and with that, he left the room.

Ymir and I stared at each other for a second, unsure of how to react. Ymir then eyed Zoe and then looked over at me once again. I gave a slight nod letting her know she could do what she wanted, but quickly. Ymir then \stumbled next to Zoe's bed and gave her a short hug.

"I hope you feel better soon, Zoe," Ymir muttered as she looked at the floor. "Um...you sounded really cool by the way, you know when you beat up those guys all by yourself and all" she continued as her cheeks flushed red in embarrassment.

Ymir stumbled back to my side and we left the room without giving Zoe a chance to respond. We ran down the hall to catch up to Maverick who didn't care to wait for us. The hospital gave a depressing vibe. The floor was grey, all the same, with darker grey doors leading into the different rooms, decorating the white walls. It was quiet once again. Maverick just walked silently, it gave an eerie vibe. I had a feeling that he was going to continue to act this way for a while.
