Izuku sat on his couch, lost in his thoughts, when the familiar chime of his phone broke through the silence. He reached over and picked it up, glancing at the screen to see a new message notification in the group chat with his friends.
Curiosity piqued, he opened the chat to find a message from Shoto. It read, "Hey everyone! I'm hosting a party at my place this Saturday. It'll be great to catch up and have some fun together. Hope to see you all there!"
A smile tugged at the corners of Izuku's lips as he read the message. It had been a while since they all gathered for a social gathering, and he was thrilled at the prospect of spending time with his friends. He quickly typed out a response, "Sounds awesome, Shoto! Count me in! Looking forward to it!"
As Izuku hit the send button, the group chat buzzed with activity as each of their friends chimed in with their reactions.
Uraraka: "Yesss! I'm so excited! Can't wait to see everyone again!"
Tsu: "Sounds like a blast! I'll bring some snacks and games!"
Iida: "Thank you for the invitation, Shoto! I'll make sure to organize some party games and maintain a safe environment!"
Katsuki: "Whatever, I'll show up. Don't expect me to stay long though."
Eijiro: "Party at Shoto's? Count me in, bro! Let's make it a night to remember!"
Denki: "Woo! I'll bring the music and set up some cool lighting effects!"
Jirou: "Sounds cool! I can provide some tunes with my speakers and guitar!"
Mina: "Party? Count me in for some dance moves and fun surprises!"
The group chat buzzed with enthusiasm, everyone expressing their excitement and making plans to contribute to the gathering. Izuku couldn't help but feel a warm sense of anticipation wash over him, knowing that this party would not only be a chance to reconnect but also a chance to create new memories together. Despite his excitement, a bit of anxiety set in. He and Katsuki hadn't spoken in 3 days. Since the night at Lake Moon to be specific. He saw that Katsuki had responded in the groupchat, Izuku decided he would take the initiative and bridge the gap that he had basically made.
Izuku took a deep breath, his thumb hovering over the screen of his phone. The uncertainty weighed heavy on his heart, and he knew he couldn't let their silence continue any longer. With determination in his eyes, he typed out a message to Katsuki.
Izuku: Hey. I hope you're doing okay. I wanted to talk and make sure we're okay. Can we meet up and talk before Shoto's party?
He stared at the message for a moment, contemplating whether he should send it or not. The fear of rejection and the lingering hurt from their recent encounter threatened to hold him back. But deep down, he knew that taking the first step toward healing their friendship was essential.
Summoning his courage, Izuku pressed the send button, watching the message disappear into the digital abyss. Seconds turned into minutes, and the wait for Katsuki's response felt agonizingly long. The anxiety within Izuku grew, his mind running through various scenarios and outcomes.
Finally, a notification appeared on his phone, signaling a response from Katsuki. Izuku's heart skipped a beat as he opened the message.
Katsuki: "Yeah, fine. Meet me at the park tonight."
Relief washed over Izuku, accompanied by a glimmer of hope. Katsuki's response might not have been overflowing with warmth, but it was a step forward, a chance for them to clear the air and mend the rift that had formed between them.
With a sense of determination, Izuku set his phone down, knowing that tomorrow's meeting would be a crucial moment for their friendship. He couldn't predict how it would unfold, but he was willing to face whatever lay ahead.
