IDOLS

Chapter 3 - Kitchen

7:00 PM

With the note they were given, the group followed their instructions and headed to the kitchen.

Mel: "Why are we following directions from a note scratched into a door?"
Lia: "The door wouldn't budge, so what else are we supposed to do?"
Sebastian: "Ooh! Maybe it's a scavenger hunt and the prize is us being able to leave!"
Chloe: "Besides the fact that we have no idea would've set up this scavenger hunt, it might be our only way out."
Cory: "And because of that, we might as well follow directions."

Just like they had just been doing in the foyer, everyone chose to investigate a different area in the room to try and find their next clue.
- Sebastian tried to open the back door, to no avail.
- Lia looked through the silverware drawer and found five plastic straws, one of which seemed to be cut in half.
- Mel was still hesitant to touch anything, and stood with her arms folded once again.
- Chloe opened the microwave and found a note.
- Cory looked through the cabinets, which were empty besides the many cobwebs throughout.

Chloe: "Guys, I found something!"
Sebastian: "What does it say?"
Chloe: "Welcome to your death. In order to get out of here, you must collect three idols. Each idol will be revealed after the sacrifice and death of one among you—"

Lia: "What the hell?!"
Mel: "Shh!!!"

Chloe, continued: "Once you have collected all three, whoever is left will be able to exit to the backyard and use the idols to banish the evil of the house. More instructions will be given once you get there. For now, open the refrigerator."

Sebastian: "Oh my god."
Chloe: "Well this sucks. One of us are gonna die."
Mel: "Three of us. Each idol will be revealed once one of us is dead."
Cory: "So if my math is right, two of us are getting out alive."
Lia, sarcastically: "That's so awesome! I'm so glad we're here."
Sebastian: "Okay, let's just open the fridge and get this show on the road."
Chloe: "Don't say it like that."

Sebastian opens the refrigerator door, revealing that it had been refashioned into a sort of iron maiden, with long spikes going in every direction. One one of these spikes was the group's next clue.

Sebastian: "For your first sacrifice, your victim will be decided by who draws the short straw. If you haven't already found them, they're in one of the drawers."

Mel: "Lia, I saw you find the straws, right?"
Lia: "Yup, got 'em right here."

Lia holds out a fist full of straws, and everyone closes their eyes and grabs a straw out of the bunch.

Lia: "Okay on three, we open our eyes. One... two... three!"

Everyone opens their eyes and show their straws.

Mel: "Oh my god, no!"
Chloe: "I'm so sorry."
Sebastian: "It was nice knowing you."
Lia: "I'll never forget you:"
Cory: "You guys, no! Please, come on. Can't we just draw straws again?! Please, guys, NO!!"

Sebastian and Chloe grab Cory and push him into the fridge.

Cory, sobbing: "YOU GUYS, PLEASE!! NO!!!"

Sebastian then shoves the refrigerator door closed. Cory's screams could be heard for nearly ten seconds afterwards, before he fell silent, confirming his death.

Lia, terrified: "That was the most horrific thing I've ever witnessed in my life."
Chloe: "How are we supposed to find the idol?"
Mel: "Do we just wait for it to reveal itself?"
Sebastian: "We could look for it like we always do."

Lia, Sebastian, Mel, and Chloe proceed to look around for several minutes before they all give up."

Chloe: "Dude, what the hell? Did we just kill Cory for nothing?"

At that moment, a gold-colored glow began to radiate from inside the oven.

Lia walked over and opens the oven, revealing another note and the first idol.

Chloe: "I guess not."

Sebastian takes the idol out.
Lia takes the note out.

Lia: "Congratulations! You've collected the first of three idols. There's an area upstairs where you can keep the idols while you're busy getting others."

Mel: "So we have to go upstairs?"
Sebastian: "I guess so."
