I creep through the quiet halls of the manor, careful not to make any noise as I pass the various rooms. Should I be out of bed? Definitely not. Was my tendency to snoop currently overruling my rational thinking? Absolutely yes. I mean, come on. Wouldn't you want to explore a house like the Malfoy Manor if you had the chance? I had been excited when Draco invited me over for the holidays for this sole purpose. My hand glided along the wall as I turned down a hallway, immediately colliding with someone's chest.

As I started to fall, a hand snaked out, wrapping around my waist and holding me steady. I blinked up at the person, tucking a strand of my Y/H/L, Y/H/C hair behind my ear. My mouth dropped open in shock when I meet the eyes of none other than Professor Snape. "P-professor, what are you d-doing here?" I asked in surprise. He raised an eyebrow at me, a look of amusement crossing his face. "I should be asking you that, Miss Y/L/N. It's not polite to wander your host's home in the dead of the night." He turned me around without waiting for an answer, placing a hand on my lower back and guiding me through the hallways.

I was too stunned to speak and he lead me through a door, closing it behind us. "It seems I've found a miscreant running through you halls, Lucius." As he spoke my eyes finally took in the room. It must've been an office of some sort as the walls were lined with books and a couch and some armchairs sat in front of a fireplace. Toward the back of the room sat an ornate black desk, the wall behind it made completely of glass, overlooking the garden. At the desk sat Lucius Malfoy who raised his head and looked at me. He sat back with a look of smug amusement before addressing Snape. "Leave the girl be, Severus. I'm sure she means no harm."

Severus? His first name is Severus? I like it. Professor Snape raised his eyebrows as if he heard me and I feel my face grow warm. He smirks. "I'm glad you like it." I blink rapidly. "D-did I say that out loud?" I ask a bit frantically. My head snaps to Lucius as the man laughs. "Ever heard of a Legilimens, Y/N?" My eyes grow wide and I stare at Professor Snape in awe. "You're a legilimens, sir? I've heard it's nearly impossible to learn."

Severus studies me for a moment before sharing a look with Lucius. "Would you like to learn, Miss Y/L/N?" I nod fervently. "Yes, I'd love to, sir." Lucius leans back in his chair. "You are welcome to teach her here at the manor. I have a private lounge that could be spared. Only if you don't mind me sitting in on lessons?" I bite my lip. "So, I'll be spending a lot of time with you two then?" I bite my lip, butterflies in my stomach.

"Indeed."
