It has been months since Rebekah and I collected Hope from Niklaus and Arlo's birth and it has been hell. What I've realised in the little time I've been a parent is babies are mini humans that poo and wee a lot.

All while eating your food and living in your house rent-free for 18 years so they can venture into the world alone. Don't get me wrong I am excited to have a child but I feel since the decision had been taken from me the whole experience feels...forced.

I love Hope and Arlo but how am I supposed to protect two babies from the outside world? The witches want Hope dead and they want my son to do it, how could they possibly want a baby dead?

I look down at Hope with a frown she has had such a short amount of time alive and she already has so many enemies. I hear the footsteps of Rebekah and she walks in with Arlo in her arms "Is he asleep?"

To answer my questions Arlo makes a small cooing noise and Rebekah sits beside me "No he isn't"

"He's more restless than his sister"

I look over at the bundle in Rebekah's arms where a brown and blue eye stare at Rebekah. I thought it was a perfect indication of me and Rebekah, blue eye for her and brown for me "He gets it from his mum"

I roll my eyes gently as she smirks but I can admit I have been restless but I would rather call it alert. There are a lot of perks to being a vampire and one is you don't really need sleep.

What better way to spend my nights than protecting my child and his sister from a threat that could or could not be coming "So are you going tell me what has been keeping you up at night?"

I look away from Hope to Rebekah and think over the pros and cons and conclude it 'it will only worry her' "We have two babies Rebekah and we have an enemy... actually you have enemies...actually the Mikaelson name has enemies, my night are spent protecting them"

She rolls her eyes before she lays her hand on top of mine "We are safe here Addy, we can relax and enjoy this time together"

We already did enjoy our time together our days were spent at parks or the beach with the children. Our nights were spent together until Rebekah falls asleep and I listen in on the children "I'd rather be prepared than unprepared"

I stand up slipping my hand out of Rebekah and walk over to the crib and place Hope down. I look to Rebekah and she is looking at me in thought "What is it?"

Rebekah looks away with a sigh "I want you to feel safe, it's what I've always wanted for you and I was hoping I would get to enjoy that peace with you but it seems these children have made us more cautious"
