I'm pretty tipsy as we make our way up the Astronomy tower, contemplating where else I could sneak off to with no curfew. Daphne and Violet are in front of me as Blaise is beside me, regaling me with some sort of story I haven't been paying attention to at all. Thankfully, he seems pretty entertained by himself.

As we walk into the new common room all of our attention goes to the back wall which full of large windows giving a glorious view of the sky, punctuated with stone whorls that characterize the Gothic style. We can see tons of stars and large plush couches in dark jewel tones to match the houses are scattered about the room with tables and shelves and anything else we could need. Off to the left I can see a hallway that has to lead to the boys' dorms and a staircase leading up to the girls' floor.

Blaise and I steal a glance at one another, then back at Draco before we take off in a sprint leaving him behind.

"Shit, what the hell guys. You're gonna pick the best beds," he starts to jog after us, followed by the other males who stayed back. When we get to the dorms we're surprised to find single rooms.

"Thank god," I hear Neville say beside me as she catches up to us.

"Yeah, Longbottom. Gonna take advantage of that alone time with some company?" I waggle my eyebrows at him, I know my eyes are glossed with alcohol, but he doesn't answer, just giving me a worried look and going off to look inside the rooms.

It seems our trunks have actually been left in specific rooms for us so the race wasn't even for a good cause. I find mine at the end of the hall with a decent window, a four poster Slytherin bed, my trunk, a shelving unit, and a desk. It's small but cozy.

There's a part of me that is grateful for the privacy.

After unpacking my trunk and lining all my books up on my shelf I venture out to see what Draco and Blaise are up to. Unable to find them in their rooms, I wander out into the main common room. They aren't there either but I do see Daphne and Violet facing each other on a couch.

They've already settled in for the evening and I can't help but check out Violet. This firewhiskey is going to get me into trouble, most likely in the form of a book smacked across my head.

Her practically white hair is tied back in a loose braid that falls down her back. A loose green jumper falls down one of her shoulders and any shorts she may be wearing seem to be too short to peek out from the green fabric. Shit.

Breaking my trance I saunter over to the two girls and plop myself down between them. They both make a disgusted face and pull back.

"You reek of whiskey, Nott," Daphne declares.

"Honestly wouldn't be surprised if I it came out of veins at the moment, Greengrass," my eyes are drooping, I can feel them. I pull my own flask out and take a swig.

"Pathetic," Violet sneers.

"May as well live up to it, that's what they all say," I tip my head towards her and wink, taking another long swig. I know the hangover tomorrow is going to be brutal, "you seen Draco or Zabini?"

"Draco went to see my sister before her curfew, Zabini went to the kitchens, said he's be right back. He needed to 'fill his snack drawer,'" she laughed.

"Tosser, he didn't invite me," I start, "what's the deal with Malfoy and your sister?"

"Not really sure, they say nothing but they're always together anymore. He spent a lot of time with us over the summer once he was released. He couldn't stand going back to the manor, you know, because..." she trails off.

"Yeah, don't blame him. They took over that house, didn't they?" I ask.

"Yeah, I can't imagine not even being able to go home after... everything."

"Tell me about it," I start. I was able to go home, but no one was there. An entire manor, an entire fortune, and no one around, "I spent a lot of time with Zabini."

"We've always been a family," she says quietly. She isn't wrong. Our families were always together growing up, even before Hogwarts we all knew each other, everyone except Violet that is. We'd met her in passing but she wasn't involved like our families all were. We relied on each other with such fucked up parents. None of us wanted this, we were terrified. We'd spent the majority of the last two years just wishing we never had to go home, be around them, because of everything they had done.

"None of you wanted this," Violet says, reaching a comforting hand out to me. I'm surprised but I take it, staring at her slender fingers as I just hold her hand.

"No, we didn't."
