It's early but I am already awake before everyone else in the dorm. I roll over to face the window in my room to see it's still dark and I debate going back to sleep, deciding against it to get a head start on gathering some information and further planning our research project.

I go ahead and throw on my uniform and tiptoe out of the hall and down the stairs, making sure to be quiet and not bother anyone as I head down for breakfast. There's usually a small grab-and-go spread this early in the morning with coffee, tea, and some pastries. I grab some sustenance and grab a pastry for good measure for Theo, knowing he's supposed to be joining me later and will most likely wait until last minute. Again.

Finding my way to the library I make myself comfortable in a bench seat right by a window so I can watch the sunrise as I work. Pulling too many books from the shelves and endless amounts of parchment I start gathering information on the required plants we're going to have to find and test.

A few hours go by and by the time I check my watch I notice that Theo is over an hour late. I look up from my table to see if maybe he or his cronies have stumbled in without my notice. I see Blaise with Neville and gathering my stuff head over to him.

"Hey Blaise."

"Hey, Vi, good morning," he says giving me a lazy smile.

"Morning Violet," says Neville. I offer him a smile.

"You wouldn't happen to have seen..." I start but Blaise interrupts me.

"Uh... he's still in bed," he says like he's trying to hide it.

"In bed," I shake my head, "in bed?" I spin on my heels, fueled with anger at having been stood up for a project I made him promise to take more seriously.

"Shit, I gotta watch this," I hear Blaise say behind me scrambling after me as I storm towards our tower.

Once I get into the common room I bust into the boys hall, most of the guys have their doors open and are chatting as they get ready for the day and I slam Theo's door open. His hair looks like Seamus' when he constantly blew himself up in Potions. He groans and rolls over shielding his eyes.

"Oi, turn out the sun," he grunts. Instead I throw his curtains wide open and start to lay into him like a howler.

"Why am I even surprised? Couldn't stand to stay sober FOR ONE DAMN NIGHT so that you could be up on time to meet me in the library? You are MISTAKEN THEODORE NOTT if you think I am doing this project by myself," I launch the pastry I grabbed him this morning at his head and he tries to shield himself.

"What the fuck?" He shoves the crumbs aside and rubs his face, sitting up. Only in boxer shorts.

"YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE UP HOURS AGO AND IN THE LIBRARY," I scream at an ungodly volume. I turn, suddenly aware of our audience. Almost all of the guys are either at the door peeking in for the show or craning their necks from where they are. Blaise looks like he is about to pee himself in delight at seeing me lay into Nott.

"For fucks sake," I slam the door on all of them and I hear them make childish ooh and aah sounds.

"Look, I don't care how pitiful you think your life is Nott, you can drink it away into oblivion for all I care, but you will NOT affect my life playing poor pitiful me," I say. That must have struck a chord in him because quick as lightning he's up and caged me against the wall. He speaks in a deep, quiet tone.

"You don't get to judge me princess perfect. You have no idea what the last few years of my life have been like, how people look at me now," I can feel his breath on my face. His dark green eyes are hooded and something sparks in them. I can smell the firewhiskey on his breath, but below that I can smell his scent, fresh, like spearmint.

"Since when did Theodore Nott give a shit what people thought about him?" I seethe pushing him back away from me.

"Since you couldn't bother to show up to study this morning, guess how you're spending your evening? I'll see you in the library after dinner." I turn and open the door, shoving my way through the guys and back to the library until my afternoon class.
