Theo is offered a deal- no Azkaban in exchange for returning to Hogwarts and working for the ministry. He can't take back his heritage or his name, all he can do is live with it. No one should have to live with the choices their parents made for the...

The next few days pass in a blur and I make sure to show up to all of Violet's study sessions. This girl is relentless but I also don't want to be yelled at first thing in the morning again. Or noon, whatever. Same thing.
I'm still drinking, but just a bit less so I can function and show up to classes and not be totally sloshed. I get dirty looks as I stumble through the hallways at the end of the night but all I offer them is a smile and a wave.
"Ok, I think that does it for the afternoon," Violet says closing her book. Its Friday afternoon and we've been here since we finished lunch, having gone to a charms lesson this morning. It was a rather productive day for me.
"Finally," I sign in relief, sitting back in my chair, running my hands through my hair and stretching letting out a huge groan. Violet rolls her eyes at me, a customary reaction lately.
"So Towers, any fun Friday night plans?" I ask.
"Theo definition or normal definition?" She asks smirking at me and crossing her arms.
"My definition is normal, you're just uptight now. What happened to the girl who downed an entire bottle of firewhiskey and stole Filch's cat treats?" I ask, remembering a particularly rowdy party one night in the common room.
Violet blushes, legitimately turns several shades of pink, "I don't remember."
"Of course you don't, you downed an entire bottle. It was pretty impressive," I laugh.
She gives me a weak smile and leans back in her seat, "Ok, ok. I get it. I just can't lose this opportunity, Theo." She brings her eyes to mine, ice blue and glassy with tears.
"Hey, shit, hey- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry," I say immediately sitting up and reaching for her. I was an ass but I never wanted to make her cry. She dodges my touch though and blinks furiously.
"What, no. I'm fine. I'm just gonna go read for a bit. I'll see you later, yeah?" She doesn't even wait for my response before she is up and headed up to the girls' dorms and leaves all her stuff at the table.
I felt like shit decided I should try and do something nice. Deciding to grab her stuff for her, I'm in the process of finishing packing it all up neatly for her when Malfoy and Zabini come into the common room and throw themselves down in the chairs beside me.
"Rough day?" I ask, leaning back in my chair so it tips and pulling out a cigarette lighting it. I tried to smoke one earlier but Vi slapped it right out of my hand and I really just needed to take the edge off.
"The usual," Malfoy says dropping his head into his hands, elbows braced on his knees and rubs his face. He holds his hand out for my cigarette so I pass it to him wordlessly.
"I don't know why the ministry thought this would be a good idea," Zabini says flatly from his seat. His sleeves are pushed up, exposing his forearms and a scar very similar to mine.
"To make us productive members of the wizarding world, remember?" I almost spit.
"We got cornered by a bunch of seventh years in the corridor. Told us we should be dead, not at Hogwarts, rotting with our parents," Zabini says.
"That's the nice version of it," Draco laughs darkly.
I let out a sigh, knowing exactly what they're talking about. I haven't been able to go anywhere without people treating me like I carry the plague or threatening me.
"I did some bad shit," Draco starts quietly, "but I didn't want to. Voldemort was literally shacked up in my house because of my father. What choice did I have?" His voice cracks a hair but he holds it in weakly. I clap my hand onto his shoulder.
"We all were raised with some fucked up beliefs. It's a miracle we can even recognize that," I say, "My father pinned me to the floor so they could mark me, remember?"
Draco and Malfoy both wince, recalling that day. My father was a real piece of shit- not just for that but a million other reasons, too.
"Good riddance," Blaise says darkly. He pulls his flask out, he must have gotten it back from Astoria, and mocks a cheers, "to dead, shitty parents," he takes a swig then offers it to us. We each grab it and take a deep drink.
"Ok," I start, feeling it burn as it goes down, "enough sad shit for the night. Let's gather everyone for some fun tonight. It's Friday." I offer them a smile, trying to lift our spirits. Sad drinking leaves a way worse hangover than happy drinking. I would know.
"Hell yeah," Blaise smiles, forcing happy thoughts. We turn to Draco.
