It all started one lonely day in October. The trees were painted in bold yellows, plump oranges, and sullen reds. The sky enveloped in a bright blue, dotted with fluffy pure snow white clouds. The air was slightly chilled, making enough people wear jackets and cardigans, jeans and leggings, knee high boots and sneakers.

And there I was, alone, as always. Walking down the intricate cobblestone path to school, dressed in dark, navy blue, skin tight jeans with hugging, two inch heeled brown boots that trailed up my mid calves, a purple airy top with my dark brown leather jacket. My hair was slightly wavy that day, curled at the ends and shining it's proud dark chestnut color in the shimmering sunlight. My bright blue eyes trailed down the path, watching the colors fall from the trees as I continued.

As I continued trudging down the prestige pathway, I pondered the same question that had haunted my brain but I would regret...

When will I find someone

Granted I was only a freshman in high school, but I wanted someone. I was a hopeless romantic, digging my head into contemporary literature, scrounging within Shakespere's classics, watching the latest chick flick while hoping secretly that I could find love within the same way.

Then I came to the spot to which my walk was for, the lake. It was an ordinary lake, with pathways and a pale blue color illumining from it. Yet it was my new spot to which I had been coming to in order to relax and be away from everyone at home. True that the path leading to it was also to school, but no one I had ever seen has ever used the path, and it was quite convenient for my uses in cracking open a book.

The leaves softly landed over the water reflecting themselves off of the surface. I stared into the water and stared down at myself. My pale white skin, my sky blue eyes, small freckles outlining my tiny nose and covering my arms when exposed. That day my lips looked a pale pink, complementing my outfit that highlighted my average body. I wasn't that tall, but I wasn't too short. For a high schooler I was only 5'6, not as short as one girl who only reached 4'11 that I once knew.

My hair twirled in the breeze as I gazed down into the water before my boots, it had ripples over its surface as leaves continued to scatter over the pale blue surface. As a bright yellow leaf covered over my cheek in the water I cautiously stepped back from the beautiful, serine lake. I scratched my ear and twirled my silver studs over my double piercings.

I turned around and started to move my legs over to the wooden bench on the other end of the path. My eyes were on the ground, kicking the leaves off of the path beneath my feet. Suddenly I was on the ground, knocked over by something, or someone. I glanced up to find a guy on the ground next to me, he too knocked over by the impact of our bodies colliding.

"Are-are you okay?" He questioned as he abruptly stood to his feet.

His voice was shaky, uncertain as I clasped his hand and was helped up to stand, the other staring hesitantly at me.

"Y-yeah." I weakly responded, my eyes glued to the ground. "I'm sorry." Immediately slipped out of my tongue.

"No..." He spoke cocking his head. "It's all good. I ran into you, you don't need to apologize." I then glanced up to his face and turned red.

He had shimmering green eyes swirled in with blue, making them pop and look brilliant through the sunlight of the October day. One word to describe him was tall, buff, not not too overly jacked, but he obviously had a 6 pack by staring at his front. He had darker hair than I did, highlighting his tanned face and body over me. A grin was plastered across his pale lips, clean shaven underneath. He wore a black sweatshirt with a yellow Nike sign largely printed on the front, faded ripped jeans and black and white nike tennis shoes.

"I...I-" stuttering in front of him as his hand was still held over mine.

"Are you new?" He questioned with sincerity.

"Yes." I whispered.

"I usually run this path in the mornings, it mostly never has people on it." Explaining his question while burning his gaze into my soul.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I never meant to get in your way or anything I-"

"Stop apologizing." He stated putting his hand in the air. "Your fine." Watching as my cheeks flamed red once again.

My hands then shoved themselves into my warm leather pockets, I was trying not to show any fear or anything.

"Are you going to school here?" Directing down the path.

"Y-yeah." I stuttered. "I just moved here about two weeks ago and my parents are making me start school this next Monday."

"What grade are you in?" The sparkle in his eyes shining bright through the sun and the beautiful sky.

"Uh, I-I'm in, I mean I'm a freshman." Totally screwing myself up while speaking once again.

"I'm in ninth too." A grin forming once again.

I tried to smile but I glanced at the ground once again. He made me nervous while I was here, wishing to be alone.

"Have you lived in Maine before?" He questioned with a deep voice that was only appropriate for someone as husky as he looked.

"No." I stated looking up at him again. "I lived in Upstate New York until I was 10 and then I moved outside of Boston and now we just moved here."

"Well welcome to Maine." He flashed a smile and winked at me while I gaped.

"Uh-I thanks." Awkwardly speaking once again.

"Don't be shy, I'm easier than most." He smirked.

I grinned at him as he took my hand again, his soft and warm hand holding over mine.

"Would you like me to show you around some of the local areas where we hang."

"We?" I suddenly questioned confused.

"Freshman areas around town." His eyebrow raising in an attempt not to laugh.

"Sorry I didn't know." I quickly responded.

"It's cool." He shrugged. "So..." He asked expectantly.

"I don't have anywhere else to be." I spoke in a complete sentence for once.

"Great!" He laughed. "By the way my name is Ryan."

Ryan, I like that.

"I-I'm Aroura."

"Old fashioned." He commented automatically.

A laugh escaped my lips and I smiled. He grinned and spoke again.

"I worried you didn't have one."

"Have one what?" I spoke uncertain, was there something wrong with my outfit.

"Your smile A. Now if you would, follow me."

"A?" Being dragged behind him.

"Your nickname. I have a special one for everyone. Now it's time that you got settled here." His glimmering eyes shining at me.

I nodded in excitement, I guess I made a new friend. He was the prince awaking me from my long sleep, and letting me out into reality.
