"Sweetie I'm going to take off the bandage on your nose right now. I will rub lotion across the sore areas after and we can take the stitches out later today." Spoke Andrea my nurse walking into the room after West departed with my empty tray.
"How long am I going-going to stay here?" As she began to tip my head back into the flat white pillow. "How long have I been here?" Dawning on the unreal thoughts.
"Relax Aurora." Closing my eyes slowly as her nimble hands took off the tape on the sides of my nose.
"Well today is the fourth and you came in on the 30th. So about five days." Trying to distract me from screaming and prying her hands off my face as the cast was taken off my nose. "By the looks of it we want to keep you until the afternoon, then the doctor will give a final examination, prescription drugs for your pain and see if you can go home."
I huffed and clutched the bedside handles as she finished, myself shaking more than usual. My head ached and I just wanted to go to sleep again. She got up and threw the gauze away in a silver trash can at the other end of the room, expertly making the shot. I gaped at how she made it and looked like she had never thrown a basket in her life. The nurse swished around and walked over to the side sink at the side of the room and got out a white bottle of lotion.
She squirted the substance on her pale hands and walked to me again, massaging the lotion on the raw portions of my skin. I groaned and continued to clutch the bars at the sides of the bed.
"Just close your eyes and sleep, you will be awoken this afternoon." Trying to be gentle.
"Okay, okay..." As my hands left the bars once again.
I drifted off into sleep and was awoken by the sound of a door opening to my hospital room. My eyes sprung open to the doctor walking in along with West and a woman. They all smiled except for West who kept a straight face and nodded at me curtly.
"Good afternoon Aurora." The doctor said cheerily.
"Hi." Trying not to show nervousness towards them as every alarm in my system said how weak and desperate I was to need their attention.
"Aurora this is Jenn, Jenn Anderson. She is your new foster guardian." West directed with a small grin at this woman before me. She smiled as the officer continued. "This is a permanent setup for you, you will be staying with her until you are of legal age to live on your own which is 18, unless you and her come to an agreement to live there. If you try and run away you can spend a night in jail after I catch you." He smirked.
"I uh yes." Surprised by the harshness laced into his tone.
"Don't be so mean West." The woman playfully said with a hint of seriousness injected. "I already know you will be a great addition to our family." She snickered at West slapping his arm.
She was a shorter petite woman when I got a better glance at her. Dark hair like Ryan's reaching just above her shoulders with a slight wave at the ends. Light pink lips, hazel eyes with small wrinkles at the ends of her face, but a smile that was genuine beneath it all. She wore a dark purple and navy blue flowery dress with a brown jacket over her shoulders.
"Well should we start to see if you can go home?" The doctor stated.
"Yes please." Trying to smile or show a sign of gratitude.
"Alright, first I want to cover medications. I have two prescription drugs that she should take twice a day, morning and night to help with her shoulder and the after pains of her surgery on her stomach. You can get them here today from Andrea after this if that's alright though because there is some paperwork." Sending groans from everyone including the doctor himself.
