Slowly, I regain consciousness. The air is full of these little purple sparks, and I wonder if it’s my addled brain. I shake my head but the sparks don’t go away.

A strange sound comes from the corner of the room. That weird distorted cracking noise. I really don’t know how to describe it.

I jump up. I’ve learned that noises mean monsters. I pull my stick out and wave it around defensively. The world is completely dark now. I must be in a cave of some sort.

Then I see it. The outline of another monster. It’s tall, and the purple sparks seem to be coming from it’s body. It has a small, stubby body and long, skinny arms and legs. It walks awkwardly. it’s skin is dark grey and black.

The last thing I notice, as it turns around, is it’s eyes. They are purple and glowing. Freaked out, I begin feeling around the walls of the cave. There are no exits.

“Hello?” I say quietly. This monster has not killed me yet, so maybe my “friends” idea will work.

There is no answer. “Okay, so, um, you saved me from the zombie and the spider. Thanks.”

Silence. “Well if your gonna kill me could you hurry up?” I snap.

“You’re funny,” said a whispery voice. “I like you.”

“Who’s there?” I say.

“I am.” It is the creature in the corner.

“I can’t see.” I say. “I can’t see anything. It’s too dark. I-”

“I know you can’t see. Humans can’t see in this light. I can see. I can see you.”

“Who are you?” I ask.

“Enderman,” it says.

“That doesn’t sound good. What are you ending?”

“I’m from the End.”

“The end of the world?”

“No. It’s another dimension.”

“Can I leave now?” I know that the Enderman has not killed me yet but I know it can. And I also know that it is probably still night outside. So many monsters.

“Well,” he says. “It’s possible. But not very smart.” Then a strange noise and the purple eyes are gone.

“Enderman?” I say quietly.

No answer. Then the strange noise again. “Holy Notch,” he said.

“What?”

“It’s a bad night. It’s a good thing I found you when I did.”

“Why is the night bad?”

Enderman didn’t answer. “Who’s Notch?” I asked.

The eyes blinked shut. I knew he was getting tired of my questions.

“Well can we at least have some light? I can’t see anything!”

A sigh. “No...Light...It is not good for endermen.”

“Why am I here?” I ask, but I don’t get an answer, and I start to wonder if I ever will, and I start to wonder if it matters.

~Looks like she’s gonna survive the first night after all!~
