That night I do not dream (thankfully). I wake up late, feeling refreshed.

“I’m gonna explore this place!” I exclaim.

Little do I know that that decision will be the biggest of my life in Minecraftia.

I open my door, and right away i hear “sssSSSSS”. I jump, and a creeper crawls around the corner of my house. “SSSSSSSSS!”

“Aahh!”

BOOM! It explodes, and i remember why I hate creepers so much. “I need a sword,” I say, surveying the wreckage that is the front of my house. I pick up some fallen wood planks and place them, and begin to fill in the ground with dirt.

Suddenly, I feel a stab of pain, and turn around to see a skeleton grinning from under a tree. “PLEASE. CAN EVERYONE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE?” I yell.

Zippp. Another arrow whizzes by. “Rgghhh.” I slam the door and crawl inside, an arrow sticking out of my leg. I pull it out and limp to my workbench. Iron sword time. I am SO tired of getting killed by monsters. Every morning, things are waiting for me outside my door.

I use some sticks and iron to make an iron sword. I grin evilly, and remember my bow. I sling the bow over my shoulder and charge out with my sword. The skeleton doesn’t even fire a single arrow before i slash it’s head off and pick up two arrows and a bone. I inspect the arrows, wondering how to make one myself. “Looks like flint,” but how to get flint?

There isn’t time. It is late morning and if I want to start on my adventure I had better get going. I checked my inventory. One raw beef, three arrows,  some wood, one coal, some dirt, a bow, a wood pick, and my sword. I wondered where my old sword went. “Must have broke.”

I decide that I have everything I need, and i begin to walk away from my house.

Along the way I keep thinking about Enderman. Why didn’t he kill me? Why did he save me? What is the End? You’re funny. I like you, I remember him saying. Maybe thats why.

I test my bow, pulling back an arrow and firing it at a tree. It feels natural to me. Not like the sword.

Suddenly the ground gives way below me and I am falling, falling...

Just like in my dream.

I remember the booming voice. Not even your friend Enderman can help you now.

With a bone splitting crunch I hit dirt at the bottom of a huge hole, and immediately pass out.

When I wake up, I don’t know where I am. It’s dark, and my head hurts like crazy. My bow is still slung across my shoulder and my sword is by my side. I spring up, and hold out my sword defensively.

Suddenly I hear a voice. “She’s awake.”

“Hello?” i ask. My voice is thinner than a map.

Someone else is in the room. I use my last coal and my wood to make four torches, and i place one on the wall of the cave. I huddle in the thin yellow light. The rest of the room is still dark, and I hear things moving around.

Something is coming. I can see the faint outline of what looks to be a zombie. “YAAHHHH!” I yell, swinging my sword at it, but it blocks with a strange bluish sword. It’s not a zombie. It’s another person like me. Our swords meet with a scrape of metal and...something.

“You’re brave.” he says. “That’s good. It makes your death more meaningful.”

“Who are you?” I ask.

“I’m Jason.”

I roll my eyes. Like that helps.

“Who are you?” he asks, and it occurs to me that I don’t have a name.

“I don’t know. I just got here.”

He laughs. “Well I think you need a name. I’m sure you have one, you just dont remember.”

He touches my head, and his hand is icy cold. “Stop.”

“Haha. I’m not going to hurt you. Just trying to find who you are...”

I shiver. Get away from me, I think. I reach for my sword, which is laying on the ground.

“Ohhhh, no you don’t,” Jason says. He kicks the sword away.

“What do you want with me?” I say, trying to sound strong but my voice coming out wavery and weak.

“I don’t want anything to do with you. It’s Herobrine who wants you.”

“Ummmm....Who’s Herobrine?”

In the dim light Jason smirks. “Like you don’t know...”

“No, I really don’t.” The beginnings of a plan begin to form.

“You’ll find out soon enough. He is the ruler of this world.”

I’m confused. “I thought Notch ruled this world.”

Jason scoffs. “Notch? Notch is a weak, old man. No. Herobrine is the ruler.”

I cut him off before he can finish, whirling around and pulling back an arrow on my bow. I smile at how natural and easy it felt to draw it. I aim directly at Jason’s head.

He just laughs. “Yes. You are a brave one. Your death will be most honorable. Lets go meet Herobrine now.”

Before I can blink, he springs up, jumps off the wall beside me, and knocks me in the back of my headvwith the butt of his sword, and i pass out.
