Chapter 9:
The boy has Jason’s hair and clothes, but his eyes are white like Herobrine’s. It can’t actually be... No. I shake my head. They’re all wearing the same clothes, after all: a light blue shirt and dark blue pants.
Herobrine turns around slowly. “Oh, I HATE it when they do that,” he mutters.
He begins pacing the cavern, glancing at the other boy. “I don’t need you right now!” he finally shouts.
“I don’t think you quite understand whats going on. I don’t think you understand what’s happened here. I don’t think you realize your mistake.” The boy’s voice is calm, but cold. He is walking towards me. I shrink back against a pillar.
“You forgot, Herobrine. When you killed me, you forgot that I have taken the Oath of Brine. Now I am not just a boy. I am strong now. I can fight you. I am like you now.”
“Could someone please tell me what’s going on? Then you can stab me. But I’m extremely confused and—”
“Basically, my brother killed me, and now I’m a Brine like him.” The boy smiled at me.
“Jason...?”
“Of course! Hadn’t you figured it out? I—”
Herobrine interrupted Jason by sticking his bloody sword in Jason’s face. “There’s only one way to kill a Brine,” said Herobrine. Then he laughed. “And I happen to have the only diamond sword in the room.”
I grab my bow and pull an arrow. “You can’t kill a Brine with an arrow...”
I fire.
“Ow!” Herobrine jumps. I hit him straight in the back.
“But you sure can irritate one.” I say, pulling another arrow and firing.
“Your. Little. Friend. Is. Really. Annoying. Me,” Herobrine grumbles.
That’s my job, I think with a smile. But now Herobrine has taken his focus off of Jason and is now stomping at me. Jason follows him, and swings his sword at Herobrine. Herobrine brushes the sword away.
“Jason?” I say, my voice small.
“What?”
“That’s a diamond sword.”
Herobrine stops dead. Slowly he spins around and pulls out his sword. “So... You have had one all along?”
“Actually, I didn’t know I did. I just found it...here...”
Herobrine looks at his own sword.
It’s not his sword.
It’s mine.
Iron.
Jason jumps on Herobrine. Their swords meet. I feel helpless. I can’t do anything but shoot arrows. If I try to shoot Herobrine I might hit Jason. Suddenly I hear “sssssss...” behind me. My whole body jumps in surprise. “CREEPER—” I scream, and throw myself on the ground as it explodes. I can’t stand up. The explosion has turned my bones to jelly. I crawl towards the fight and pick up my remaining three arrows and my bow. I need my bow. It is my only weapon.
Herobrine is fighting for his life. He can’t win. You can’t kill a Brine with Iron, I think. But he’s more skilled, and Jason is being backed into a wall. My eyes search the cavern for a weapon. There is nothing.
Suddenly there is stillness.
And somehow I know that this stillness is more deadly than the battle before it.
“Emme...” Jason says in a quiet voice.
Jason has the diamond sword, but Herobrine has pinned him against a wall. Herobrine can’t grab the diamond sword without letting go of Jason. But Jason can’t escape.
Stalemate.
“I’m sorry...” said Jason.
GIVE. ME. THE. SWORD. I mouth, and Jason looks confused.
NOW.
Jason shakes his head.
“Quit playing games, little brother. Give me your sword and let me finish your pitiful existence. Think about it. You are a traitor to the Brines. You will never be accepted by the outside world. You might as well give up now...”
Jason closes his white eyes. I can’t see it but somehow I know, he is crying.
I blink back tears.
“Here,” he says, beginning to raise the hand holding the diamond sword towards Herobrine.
“There... It’s a shame we never saw—”
Jason throws the sword at me.
“HOLY NOTCH!” I shriek.
“Emme, could you NOT?” Jason mutters.
“SORRY!” Herobrine tries to turn around but Jason is holding him.
My entire world spins. I don’t know what to do.
Jason rolls his eyes at me.
I run at Herobrine and drive my sword into—air?
Herobrine is gone, in a flash of light. In his place is a piece of paper.
You win this one, brother. I’ll be back. it says.
I run at Jason and he grabs me. He is cold, but I don’t care. I’m so shaken that I just stand there, frozen.
“Let’s leave,” says Jason.
Yes, lets.
Jason leads me out of the caves.
Finally I feel the sunlight on my face. I lie down in the grass the second we are out of the cave. “I’m NEVER getting up again,” I say laughing.
“No, I expect you aren’t,” Jason agrees.
“Lets go find my house.” I stand up and climb the nearest tree. I don’t see my house anywhere. “Where the heck are we??” I ask.
“I have absolutely no idea,” says Jason. “Let’s build a house,” he says, beginning to punch a tree.
I smile, and forget about Herobrine. Right now, all that matters is sun, trees, and Jason.
THE END.
Well guys! That was my first Minecraft Fanfic! How did you like it?? Say tuned for more stories and *possibly* a sequel.
P.S. Jason has nothing to do with MinecraftUniverse.
P.P.S. Seriously. I just like the name.
P.P.P.S. Believe it.
