Chapter 13: Normal life huh?

Authors note: I'm not going to promise to post around a certain time but what I'll do is whenever I have time off and inspiration I'll write a chapter. Anyways, I'm actually really excited to write this chapter as I have no idea what I'm going to write yet!

Y/n woke up to the sound of light rain on her windowsill. She could smell Jacob so she reached out with her hand expecting to touch his warm chest. But found nothing. She opened her eyes to realise Jake wasn't there. At first she was struck with panic. She got out of bed quickly, looking around for any sign to were he had gone. That's when she noticed a note on her sage green dresser. It was quick and messy but the words were clear.

Good morning babe, I hope you slept well. Sam called and I had to leave suddenly. But don't worry I'll be back as soon as I can. Take the bike to school and I'll see you once school's over. I love you. So much.  Love always, Jake

Y/n held the note to her chest and took some deep breaths. Surviving the day without Jake or Jasper. She just wasn't used to it. But maybe this was meant to happen. Once she got dressed in something simple, she went downstairs for some breakfast. Suddenly the phone started ringing, she instantly thought it was Jake. She answered the phone hectically. 

'Jake!' cried Y/n, down the phone. 

'Hey sweetie!' said Aunt Caroline. Y/n sighed deeply but tried not to sound too disappointed.

'Aunt Caroline, what a surprise!' said Y/n, putting on a happy voice. 

'I hope not too much of a surprise, did the sheriff clue you in to what's going on?' asked Caroline.

'Yes he did and I'm fine with it' said Y/n. 

Then her tone changed and it was one of great sympathy. 'Oh sweetie, I cannot begin to describe how sorry I am about your dad' said Caroline, gently. 

Y/n closed her eyes for a moment and it took her a second to think of what to say. 

'He's not my father. Not anymore' said Y/n, strongly. 

'I should have called more, pushed to visit' said Caroline, feeling guilty. 

'Caroline, please it's not your fault. He pushed you away because he knew we had a connection and that you also reminded him of mum' said Y/n.

'I know, I know. But I should have done more. I'm so sorry Y/n, I truly am' said Caroline.

'It's okay, I've managed and I have people around me that love me and accept me for me' said Y/n, softly. 

'That's wonderful darling, I'm really glad that your being looked after' said Caroline, happily.

'Yeah, how's things with you?' asked Y/n. 

'Everything's good here! Me and Mike got married last summer, after him begging me for years *she chuckles* and the house is currently being renovated too! It's beautiful, you should really come and visit' said Caroline, with a smile. 

'I'd love to! But I really don't wanna put you guys out or anything' said Y/n, carefully. She was so used to having such a harsh parent that all this nice talk was strange to her. Even after all this time, her bond with her was still there. Definitely not as strong as when she was younger but definitely still there.
