Chapter 18: Trip away from home

The snow was melting now. But the air was still cold. The rain endless. Although it was almost always raining in Forks. It was around 10:30 at night.
Jasper was packing his small suitcase of things he didn't necessarily need but that he needed to seem human to others. Especially Y/n's aunt.

Everyone was present in the Cullen household. Waiting to wish Jasper good luck on this dangerous mission of his. It would be sunny around this time of year but he promised to be careful.

Y/n had decided that she wanted both of them to go. They of course accepted immediately, just feeling honoured that she would invite them. Despite Y/n's undeniable love for both of them. She had also been feeling very up and down the past few days. But she had put it down to her period.

Jasper closed his suitcase with vamp speed and then looked at his room one last time before closing the door. He could feel everyone's different emotions downstairs. A mixture of happiness yet worry. Out of everyone Esme seemed the most worried.

In a second he was at the bottom of the stairs, facing them. They were all smiling. He smiled back. The small black suitcase, in his hand.

Esme was the first to step forward, naturally hugging him tightly. Jasper accepted the hug. Feeling the motherly love strongly. She was very happy for him.

'I miss Y/n, please bring her to stay after your trip' said Esme, her golden eyes full of love.

'Of course Esme' replied Jasper, smiling.

'Jasper' cried Carlisle, hugging him. Jasper hugged him back. He was also feeling happy for him.

'Call if you need anything' said Carlisle.

Jasper nodded. Edward gave him a brotherly handshake. His face smiling broadly. Bella was stood beside him. Feeling mostly calm but a little awkward. She smiled at him kindly.

Emmet ran forward and gave him a bear hug. Chuckling loudly as he did so. Jasper laughed out loud. It was like he wasn't going to see them for a decade or so.

'Good luck Jasper. Please take care of Y/n' said Rosalie, kissing his cheek gently.

'Thanks Rose, I will' replied Jasper, moved by her concern and love for Y/n. He glazed over her feelings. Trying to read them further. He could only tell that she was truly being sincere. It was clear that Rose thought highly of her. And that she had for a while now. Perhaps he had been way too distracted to notice it properly.

'I'll be back before any of you realise' said Jasper, a smirk on his face. He could feel a little bit of sadness from all of them.

Alice waited till last. Her pixie hair standing out from the rest of them. Her face lit up with a beaming smile as she walked forward to embrace him. She held on a little longer than the others.

'Anything I need to know in advance?' Asked Jasper.

'Just hold her hand when she gets off the plane. Apart from that I know you'll have a great time Jaz' said Alice, smiling sweetly.

Jasper chuckled. Always the most random things.
Edward smirked, reading his thoughts.

'We'll miss you man' said Emmett, patting his back affectionately. Jasper smiled.

I'll miss you guys too. Edward heard it loud and clear in his head. Weirdly Jasper didn't need to say it out loud. He gave them all one last look before getting in his car and driving away. They all watched as the car speed down the road until it disappeared through the dark and the greenery.

'So how long will you be going for?' Asked Billy, his eyes curious. He wasn't fully aware of the situation but had an pretty clear idea of the truth.
