Chapter 3- Cousins

June 1st

Todays the day. I have spent the past two days packing. I have never spent the whole summer away from home. I'm getting nervous, I have never been the type to make friends easy. Susannah and laurels kids have known each other their whole lives. They are already friends, so I'm going to be the odd man out. My mom tells me that belly is excited to have a girl around. Apparently the boys pick in her. But I feel like my mom is just telling me that to make me feel better.
We start loading up the car. My mom and I are both over packers so the car is pretty full. Once the car is full my mom locks up the house for the summer.... that's so wired to think about.
I made a playlist for this trip of all my favorite summer songs. You know my mom is in a good mood when she lets me blast the music.
As we drive I get deep into my thoughts... what would the house look like? What will the other kids think? Maybe the don't really want us there? I hope my mom doesn't feel left out? What will happen this summer?
I get snapped back into reality, when my mom turns down the music and says "look, there's the sign". I smile and look "entering cousin beach". This still doesn't feel real.
"You ready?"my mom ask. "I guess so." Next thing I know, we are pulling into the drive. My mouth drops, "this place is beautiful!" "I know" my mom says.
Susannah and Laurel are both standing outside. The both smile and wave at us. My mom gets out of the car and I follow. The both hugs us. Susannah welcome us. We then grab our things out of the car. We walk in the house and I am amazed by everything. Susannah the looks at me " Hey 'Em, you will be staying with belly, I hope that ok. If not you can crash with your mom in the guest room." Before I can respond Laurel jumps in "Belly is really excited for you to stay with her. She has been the only girl for so long." I smile " yeah that sounds like fun."
To be honest I was feeling out about it.
As I am looking around the house I hear my mom ask where the other kids were. Laurel yells for them.
Two boys walk in. Susannah introduces us. The first one is Jeremiah, he has curly hair and the prettiest eyes I had ever seen. He was also tall, but most people are compared to me. The second one is Steven, I think he looks like his mom. Jeremiah starts taking to me right away. It took Steven a second but then he warmed up. "Where is belly and Connie," Susannah asked. "Probably making out" Steven answered. That took me back, I didn't know they were dating. Laurel gets on Steven. The Conrad and Belly walk. I'm pretty sure my fave went white. Conrad was the boy I saw at Starbucks the other day and belly was the girl with him. I know it had only been two days and I didn't talk to him, I kinda formed a crush on him. And here I am having to spend the summer with him... AND ROOM WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND.
After Everyone talks for a minute, belly shows me to her room. "I am so excited, that you are here this summer. It's going to be so nice to have another girl around."
