Friend or Woe

Raven felt her hands being tied behind her back, as she was seated on a chair with a bag over her head, as Wednesday was next to her, or at least, she hoped Wednsday was next to her. She blinked when the bag was taken off of her head, as she looked around, finding Wednesday was indeed next to her, as they were surrounded by people in long black cloaks and masks.

"Who dares enter our inner sanctum?" One of the masked figures asked, as Raven and Wednesday shared a look, "You can the mask off, Bianca." Wednesday spoke. Raven watched as Bianca took her mask off, as the others followed suit, as Raven's dark eyes zeroed in on a familiar person.

"Ajax?" Raven asked him, as she felt betrayal, "How did you two get down here?" Xavier asked them, "Rowan showed us." Wednesday spoke, "Left pocket." She added, as Raven watched as Xavier approached Wednesday and reached into her left pocket. "We tracked the watermark on the page to the Poe statue." Raven said, "Then we solved the riddle." She added, sassing them all.

"Wait, there's a riddle? I thought we just snapped twice." Kent spoke, as the others shook their heads at him, "Well, aren't you the brightest in the bunch?" Wednesday asked him sarcastically, as Raven smirked, "The Nightshades are an elite social club. Emphasis on 'elite'." Bianca said, as Raven rolled her eyes, "We have roof parts, campouts, the occasional midnight skinny-dip." Yoko spoke, "And, Yoko's an amateur mixologist." Divina spoke, as Ajax spoke up, "She makes a killer virgin mojito. It can get pretty wild." Ajax said, as Raven gave him a bitch face.

"Wow. Do you guys even have a bedtime?" Raven asked sarcastically, "Last we heard, the Nightshades had been disbanded." Raven said, "Yeah, the group kind of lost its charter thirty years ago, after some normie kid died." Xavier spoke, as Raven nodded her head, "But, we have a lot of wealthy alumni, so Weems looks the other way so long as nobody makes any waves." Divina spoke.

"Someone like Rowan?" Wednesday asked, "We booted that loser last semester. Question is, what are we gonna do with them?" Bianca asked, "Only members are allowed in this library." Bianca added, as Raven used her pyrokenisis to get through her bindings, "I say we invite them to pledge." Xavier spoke, as Raven rolled her eyes, "What?" Kent asked, "They are legacies." Xavier spoke, pointing at the picture of Mortica and Gomez on the wall, as Raven looked at the picture.

"After the crap Wednesday pulled at the Poe Cup? No way in hell. We talk about not making waves? She's a tsunami. As for Raven? She can pledge, because we know her." Bianca spoke, as Wednesday looked at her, "Just because I beat you at your own game?" Wednesday asked, "Let me save you the trouble." Wednesday spoke, "We're not interested in joining." Wednesdaay spoke, as Raven looked at Bianca, "You're seriously turning us down?" Yoko asked, "Can you believe it?" Wednesday asked sarcasically, "Untie them." Bianca spoke.

"We freed ourselves five minutes ago. She untied her hands, I burnt through the ropes." Raven says, as they hold their restraints up, before they stood up, before they tried to leave, as Kent got in their way, "Do you want a matching black eye?" Wednesday asked, referring to when Thing had punched Kent in the eye during the Poe Cup, as they slammed their ropes against his chest, as they began walking up the stairs, as Wednesday paused, as she turned to look at them, "It's amateurs like you who give kidnapping a bad name." Wednesday spoke up, as the sisters walked away upstairs.

They returned to Wednesday and Enid's room, as they looked at the book, as Wednesday matched the picture up, to show the full picture, "So, this is what Rowan meant, when he said we were going to destroy Nevermore?" Raven asked, "That's not the question that you should be asking, Sister, but why are we sharing this apocalypse with a pilgrim?" Wednesday asked, as Raven nodded her head.

She soon returned to her room, as she saw Yoko already there, "I'm sorry that we didn't tell you about the Nightshades." Yoko spoke, as Raven smiled softly, "You're forgiven. But, Wednesday's right. Joining would be following in our parents footsteps, and I tried so hard to get out of that shadow, despite being an Addams." Raven spoke, as Yoko nodded, before two girls fell asleep.
