I sighed. "Well basically Karen wasn't at all too thrilled with the fact that I'm gay. I came out the other day and she kicked me out. She gave me half an hour to pack and threw pictures of me and her at me." I said pointing to my bruised face. "The other night I slept on a park bench. I don't know why I didn't call you. I think it was because I didn't want to burden you. But when I woke up there was a guy my age sitting next to me. Adam. He took me to his and I told him about what happened so I slept at his last night. I know we've literally only just met but I feel safer with him than I do with Karen. I mean I know that's not really saying much but he has been really helpful." I said. I tried to read my sister and my dads faces but there was no tell on any of their faces as to what they were thinking.

"He brought you here? Is he still here?" Dani asked. I nodded. "Go get him. We want to meet this knight in shining armour." I giggled at my sisters comment because I never really thought of it like that but he was. I stood up to walk to the door to get Adam. I walked up to his car that was now facing the other way in order for us to drive off quicker. He saw me coming and rolled the window downed paused the Glee version of Come What May.

"Well as much as I am really sorry I had to stop you from listening to what is probably my favourite song, they want to meet you." I said smiling. He nodded and rolled up his window and walked with me up the driveway.

"Dani, Dad. This is Adam. Adam is is my sister Dani and my Dad Michael." I said. Adam held out his hand to my sister and dad to shake. My dad shook his hand but my sister pulled him into a hug.

"Thank you." Dani said whence released Adam from the hug. "Thank you for protecting my baby brother. You are his knight in shining armour."

"Oi. I'm 18 in 3 weeks. I'm not your baby brother. I'm your little brother. And as for the knight in shining armour. I didn't say that. I don't disagree but I didn't say it." I replied turning to Adam.

"It was my pleasure. I've been through what he's been through so I know the struggles. You have a wonderful son and brother here." Adam replied.

"Would you boys care for a drink? Damien knows where everything is." My dad said. I lead Adam into the kitchen and opened the fridge door.

"Pepsi? Orange juice? Coffee? Water?" I asked Adam.

"Pepsi please." he replied

"Dan? Dani? Do you want anything?" I shouted.

"Nah. We're good." My sister replied.

I handed Adam his drink and picked up mine and gestured into the living room where my family were sitting and we just had a pleasant little chat about how life is treating us and where Adam lived and if I was going to be staying with Adam. To which he told my dad and sister that I could stay with him for as long as I wanted. My family seemed to be happy with this arrangement. After about an hour and a half I decided to get us back home.

"Right." I said slapping my knees. "We should get going."

"Oh. Do you want your car back. I'm buying a new car so you can have yours back." Dani said. I looked to Adam as if to ask if it was okay.

"There's plenty of space up my drive for your car if you want to bring it." Adam said reading my mind.

"Bloody hell. You guys have only known each other a day and he can already read your mind Damien." My sister said giggling.

"Oh you have no idea." I replied laughing I shot my sister a cheeky little grin and she could just tell what I was meaning. I stood up to leave and grabbed my car keys from the key rack next to the door.

"Let's go then. I'll follow behind you." I said to Adam. "Unless you'd rather me stay here?" I asked panicking. Adam shook his head.

"No. I want you to stay with me. If you want." he said instantly. I nodded a little too excitedly. As Adam and I left my dads, I turned round to wave bye to my family and Dani shot me a smirk which literally translated as 'damn he's cute and already protecting you and you've only known him a day.' I just winked nodded and smiled at her.

"You roughly know where you're going right? Just in case we get split up." Adam turned to me and asked. I had already memorised the route from Adam's to my dads. I nodded.

"Roughly yeah. I'll try to not let anyone cut in front of me though." I replied. "Let's go."

We did manage to split up on the road because I got stuck at a light but by the time I got to Adam's house, he was stood at the drive waiting for me smiling like an idiot.

"Welcome Home Damien." he said beaming and holding a 'Welcome Home' banner. I couldn't help but smile. He pulled me into a hug and I started to tear up.

"Oh bless ya." he said chuckling.

He must have heard me crying. He held me for a few minutes while I cried a mixture of joy and sadness because no one had ever done anything like this for me before.

"This isn't all." he whispered in my ear.

"Huh?" I asked. My brows furrowed. Adam took my hand and led me into the living room where 2 of Adam's friends stood with balloons and welcome home banners. I started crying again.

"What? How?" Is all I managed to say. Adam chuckled.
