"You plan on telling her the building will never fully be hers?" Frankie asked.
Diego came from around the corner by Frankie's door into his living room space.
"Do you?" Diego asked. Answering Frankie's question with a question.
"You never change D." Frankie responded, getting up to get a beer from his refrigerator.
"She making you plates now?" Diego asked Frankie. Frankie nodded.
"She must really like you." Diego said.
"She'd really like you too if you were nicer to her and didn't break into her house." Frankie responded. There was a silence before they both laughed. Diego took his brother by the had and embraced him with a hug.
"I seen the way she looked at you when we stared at each other. She's protective over you. What you doing to her?" Diego asked.
"Nothing. Just helping her out, being a friend. She just moved here, so she doesn't have many." Frankie replied. Frankie was determined not to say too much to his brother out of respect for Dahlia.
"I seen the way you look at her. Never seen you that nervous before." Frankie said looking at Diego. There was a serious silence. Diego wasn't ready to talk about his emotions, he wasn't even sure what he felt.
"I'm planning on telling her. I can't believe Rabbit did that. That's a bold move." Diego said.
"I don't think he would've done anything if you hadn't sent Mariana." Frankie replied. Diego took a deep breath.
"What else was I supposed to do Frankie?" Diego asked. Frankie didn't respond. The truth is, Frankie would've done the same thing, but Rabbit would've seen Frankie's face.
"You just gone let her fix it up then take it from her?" Frankie asked while putting his head down a bit.
"No, I'm going to help her fix it up."
"Help her?"
"Help her." Diego said going into Frankie drawer to get a fork.
"What did she make you?" Diego said uncovering the plate.
"I think some kind of Alfredo." Frankie replied getting a fork and a different plate. They both took a bite and make a noise signifying that the Alfredo tasted great.
"I ain't know it tasted like that.." Frankie said snatching the plate.
"Go apologize and see if she'll make you a plate." Frankie said with a sly smile. Diego laughed.
"She is sweet." Frankie stated after taking another bite.
"She seen my car after buying me food and didn't regret buying me food. Seems like she does things out of the kindness of her heart. Just let her have it." Frankie finished.
"You know I can't do that Frankie." Diego replied.
"Well at least talk to her. She deserves that. And you're not in the wrong so maybe she will understand." Frankie said.
"Understand that someone sold her a building that wasn't theirs and now she has to deal with being under me for the rest of her time being there?" Diego asked.
"Mariana said you already said it wasn't yours anymore." Frankie stated.
"I didn't want anyone bothering her." Diego admitted. Frankie looked up at his brother and noticed something different about him. The genuine sadness in his voice.
"You wished you would've met her under different circumstances." Frankie said empathizing with his brother.
"Maybe she came right on time." Frankie said putting his hand on Diego's shoulder.
