That night Diego took Dahlia home and what she thought would be a "see you later" was a "goodbye" forever. Dahlia stood in the middle of the opening entrance with Diego, forgetting for a second about her new scar that pained the back of her leg."We can't-"
"I can't do this. People who have never seen me are seeing me, you have a scar on the back of your leg that's partially my fault." Diego said.
"But you don't get to determine that. You don't get to determine if I stay or if I go, that is my choice. I did nothing, and people seeing you isn't my fault." Dahlia responded back with anger in her voice.
"It is, and that's why we can't do this. I enjoyed you and everything you have going for yourself. Your cooking-" Diego started. He took a step closer to her and she stepped back but he grabbed her to pull her towards him.
"The way you smell. How you look. You're so beautiful. I want to see you everyday. I want to be with you everyday. I want you beside me everyday. That's why I come out to see you because I don't want to go a day without seeing you. But seeing you means the world seeing me and I can't have that right now." Diego said. He gave her one last look, and stared into her eyes that were starting to water, until he couldn't look at her anymore.
"I gotta' go." was all Diego said before leaving Dahlia standing in the middle of the foyer. She let out the tears that she wouldn't let escape in his presence. It wasn't a lot of tears, but enough to show that she cared. She wanted to shake this off and not think about Diego again, she wanted to forget about him but she knew that she wouldn't. She couldn't. She liked him, his looks, the way he felt, the way he touched her. How he touched her.
The next morning Dahila got up like it was a regular day, because it was a regular day. The scar on the back of her leg was bothering her so much more today. After she got ready, she cleaned it and tried her best to stop the light bleeding before putting on some dark sweat pants and a black tee. Before heading out the door she prayed and grabbed all her things she'd need for the day.
Pulling up to the building she seen Kevin sitting outside.
"Goodmorning Kevin!" She said with excitement after wincing at her new scar.
"Goodmorning Ms. Dahlia." Kevin responded with a smile while getting up off the ground.
opened the doors and went to turn the alarm off.
"What you doing here so early?" Dahlia asked.
"I just wanted to come and help." Kevin responded. Dahlia was extremely grateful for the help too.
"Well, thank you Kevin. Its much appreciated even if I don't show it too much today." Dahlia replied.
The day went by rather quickly with Kevin there to help her and she was fairly glad that it did. She was ready to go home, and if she was honest, go out and and get a drink.
She locked the door up after setting the alarm and made her wya to Kevins house. He insisted he walk or catch the bus but she wasn't going to let him.
They made it to Kevins house and she dropped him off with a simple "see you later" after thanking him for helping her out today. At this point she didn't think shed have even made it through the day if it wasn't for Kevin. Dahlia attempted to make her way home but found herself walking into 'Harvs'. The local, but famous club a couple miles away from her home. She was sure nobody would see her, well that's what she hoped.
She hopped into the bar seat and ordered a Sex on the Beach.
"May I also have a shot of Patron?" she asked. The bartender nodded and smiled at he, she returned the smile. She looked around the bar watching the people have fun and missing Karina, her old going out buddy. She shrugged her shoulders before her drinks were placed in front of her. She took the shot back quickly, then focused on her drink.
Dahlia hadn't been drinking since the night she was supposed to go on a dat with the man she met when her and Karina went out so the drinks snuck up on her, especially the Sex on the Beach. It was so good but it was winning against her low tolerance.
"Another one?" the bartender asked. She smiled at him.
"Sure." she replied. He made her another Sex on the Beach but she noticed he didn't put too much alcohol in it this time. He must've seen that she was getting a little tipsy.
She finished the second drink then quickly got up just to be sat back down by her own body.
"Aw man." Dahlia thought to herself. She stumbled her way towards the door, like a lady, she would always say. Where one could easily see that she was drunk but she was not slopply at all. She felt a pair of hands grab her waist and immediately knew who it was. Shed know that firm grip anywhere and anytime, even under the influence. When she turned to see Diego, she couldn't keep her face from lighting up. She didn't want to be happy seeing him. Wasn't he the one that said he didn't want to talk anymore? Yet here he is, holding her.
"Come on. Ill take you home." he said. He didnt leave room or time for her to disagree with him. He pick pocketed her keys and threw them at one of his men that came with him then put Dahlia in the car.
He brought Dahlia to his home because he didn't want to go to hers. He felt like it would defeat the purpose of what he told her earlier, still, he didn't want to leave her alone. Helping her out the car, they both made their way to the front door while Dahlia had her arm around Diego's waist. Holding herself up, as well as being held up by him.
They got in the door and the downstairs was empty, with dim lighting and it was quiet.
"Shoot." Dahlia said.
"I should've told you to get me something to eat." She continued.
"I'll have someone bring you something." Diego replied.
"I'll have someone bring you something." She said mocking him. He didn't respond and she smiled, grabbing his chin for a second while she talked.
"You could work around it. Not seeing me. Why won't you. We could go somewhere from time to time, everyone doesn't have to know. Just me and you." Dahlia said while looking into Diego's eyes. Diego knew she was being this bold because she had a couple of drinks, but he also sensed the sincerity. He grabbed her and pulled her closer to him.
"I can't be around you, but I'll never stop protecting you, and showing you that I love you." Diego replied. This surprised Dahlia and her 3 drinks she had.
"Yeah. I said it. I'll never stop showing you that I love you. And that is why you're going to be my wife."
