"Wow this house is huge," Alyssa exclaimed after Jerimih had shown her around," You must be really rich." After receiving only a shrug in reply she continued looking around in awe. This place was basically her dream house; it had a wonderful view of the ocean, a pool, seven bedrooms and was just plain gorgeous.

"The room down the hall is yours and it has an adjoining bathroom in case you need," Jeremih had told her before heading up the stairs to his room.

"Wait a sec, where are your parents?" Alyssa asked, suddenly noticing their absence. She didn't want to stay alone with this man in a house as big as this where no one would be able to hear her screams. For all she knew he could be a drug dealer or a rapist.
"There not here, I live by myself," Jeremih said as if he couldn't care less about his parents whereabouts.

"You live here by yourself?" Alyssa asked eyeing him warily. She wasn't sure what to do. Was it safe to stay here? If she doesn't stay here where else could she?

"Yes, if you have a problem with that you're welcome to leave," Jeremih said beginning to feel annoyed.

"No, no, it's not like that but...do you sell drugs?" Alyssa blurted out bluntly, "Oh my gosh! No, no, no, I didn't mean that but it's just..."

Jeremih chuckled inwardly, amazed at Alyssa's bluntness. He was used to other people being wary of him because of how rich he was but no one had ever been as outright with it as Alyssa had. Deciding to have some fun with her, he said, " I sell drugs but that's not all - I also sell girls."

Alyssa began to panic as the meaning of Jeremih's words sunk in. She was no longer sure what to do and was suddenly so terrified. Had she just let herself walk into a sex traffickers house or was he just joking?
Jeremih noticed the state of mind Alyssa was in and chuckled inwardly. He couldn't believe how dense this girl was but to be honest, her denseness added to her cuteness. "I was just kidding," he said trying to relieve her of her worries.

"Yeah, well I'm still locking my door tonight," Alyssa said whiles trying to appease her troubled mind.

"It would even matter if you did because I have the master," Jeremih said with a smirk knowing how riled up it would get Alyssa.

Without another word, Alyssa stalked into the room she had been given and pointedly locked the door. The day had been so frustrating and she really needed to relieve some of her stress.
She turned on the radio that was already in the room and just started dancing. She let herself go and became completely relaxed without any cares. But what she didn't notice when she was dancing were that the curtainless glass windows gave anybody outside a clear view of her room.

Jeremih went outside to gaze at the ocean and noticed Alyssa as she danced. He looked at her in amusement and thought about how cute, naive and dense she could be at the same time. With each passing moment he wanted to spend more and more time getting to know her and who she really was.

The next morning Alyssa woke up early and went to the kitchen to make 'thank you breakfast' for Jeremih. She opened the fridge and was surprised to see it full of canned food, most of which were past their expiration date.
She decided to use the canned sausages, vegetables and eggs to make an omelette. She expertly cracked open the eggs and mixed it together with the ingredients before pouring everything into a frying pan. She then arranged the omelettes on a plate with baked beans and toast as sides and a choice of coffee, tea or hot chocolate for beverages.

Satisfied with her work, she sat down to eat her own breakfast. It had taken her about 30 minutes to prepare the breakfast and she was sure Jeremih would be waking up soon. She hungrily ate her food while waiting for him to make his appearance and was surprised when he came downstairs with a backpack slung on one arm.

"You're still in high school?" she asked surprised, she had thought he would be either a drop out or a college student.

"I know what you're going to say next, 'I'm too handsome to be 17,'" Jeremih said with a confident smirk on his smug face.

"I was not going to!" Alyssa shouted back indignantly even though there was a blush creeping up her neck.
"Just come and eat your breakfast," she said trying to change the subject.
Jeremih sat down at the table and wolfed down all of the Alyssa had set out for him in under 2 minutes.

Alyssa's eyes bulged out as she stared at him in shock. He suddenly felt self-conscious and said he hadn't had a home cooked meal in years. Alyssa just continued staring at him until he got fed up and stood to leave for school.

"Oh, erm, could I b-borrow your phone for a minute. I think I have a f-friend from back home that's in C-California I think I could ask him to come pick m-me up." Alyssa said while stammering under Jeremih's sharp gaze.

Jeremih reluctantly handed over his his phone to her and was surprised when she logged onto Twitter instead of dialing her friend's number. "Don't you know you his number?" Jeremih asked while sneering at her.

"He changed it recently and I don't remember the new number," Alyssa said while posting a message. When she had finished she handed the phone over to Jeremih and thanked him for helping her.

"Wait, are you leaving now? You have no where else to go," Jeremih scolded her in an attempt to get her to stay longer.

"Yes, I'll try Stella's workplace and see if I find her there, just go to school you don't needed to worry about me," Alyssa told him trying to make him worry less.

Jeremih sighed and stalked out of the house and into his car. He didn't want her to leave and he didn't really want to go to school anyways, but he knew she would never let him stay at home with her.

Disappointment was something Alyssa was used to by now. She knew the way you begin to feel choked up with sadness and way the way your face falls. She knew everything there was to know about disappointment but even all of her knowledge couldn't stop her from feeling it.

Ever since arriving in California Alyssa had had disappointment after disappointment and now she was just so tired of everything. First, she had found out her sister wasn't who she thought she was. She had abandoned her family to a life of poverty while she moved to California to pay for her boyfriend's drug habits. Second, she was practically broke since her sister had stolen most of her money and third, she had no place to stay.
To sum it all up coming to California had been the biggest disappointment and regret of Alyssa's life. But she had decided not to wallow in her sadness and just keep moving forward. She knew sitting down somewhere crying about how pathetic her life was going to get any problems solved so she had to try and find some solutions.

The first thing she did was visit the diner where Stella works, hoping to make up with her and hopefully stay at her house with her. Too bad this only lead to another disappointment because upon arriving there she was told Stella had quit that morning and left a note with her boss for Alyssa that said she should go back home.
Weak with weariness, Alyssa trudged back to Jeremih's house to wait for him. It was only 11 o'clock but Alyssa already felt like passing out from fatigue. The only thing that stopped her from passing out right there on the pavement was the thought of the big, comfy bed that awaited her there.
