𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐘 in the training ground had been lighter than usual. with liverpool riding high in the 2022/2023 season and the international break around the corner, everyone was buzzing, bags packed, national kits laid out, and group chats full of flight times and reunion plans.

luna, however, was the only one not running around with boots and passports. she had her own plans.

"you're not gonna miss us?" trent called out, one hand on his hip, sweat still glistening on his brow after drills.

luna looked up from the camera bag she was organizing. "it's three weeks..."

"go on then, what's the punchline?" trent grinned.

"...of actual peace." she smirked, zipping the bag closed.

"damn," virgil chuckled from the bench, tossing a towel over his shoulder. "that's cold."

"cold as it may be," she said, straightening up, "but since my parents have kindly volunteered to watch martina, and she apparently loves sunderland more than me this week... i'm gonna enjoy these three weeks in madrid."

"you're goin' to madrid? alone?" harvey piped up, eyes wide like she'd announced she was off to mars.

"yes, harvey," she said dryly, "adults go alone. especially adults who've spent eight years chasing after a tiny, chaotic version of themselves."

andrew snorted. "honestly, that's fair."

"what you gonna do over there?" curtis asked, flopping down next to trent.

"i need to upgrade some of my gear," she replied. "a couple lenses from madrid, and i've got an appointment at a studio in lavapiés. and then maybe..." she smiled a little, "a glass of wine that doesn't get spilled on by someone yelling about offside."

"you've changed," trent grinned. "you used to love the chaos."

"i still love the chaos," she said, raising a brow. "i just want the chaos to be in high definition."

"does hendo know you're goin'?" trent asked suddenly, glancing past her.

luna opened her mouth to respond, but jordan beat her to it.

"yes, i do," he said flatly, pulling off his bib and tossing it into the hamper.

the group paused.

jordan looked up, meeting trent's gaze squarely. "and she's an adult. she can do as she likes. stop hasslin' her."

trent blinked, backing up with his hands raised. "alright alright... no need to bite my head off."

"jealous, are ya?" andrew muttered under his breath, and trent elbowed him.

luna narrowed her eyes slightly but chose not to engage, instead adjusting her strap and lifting her camera again. "anyone who wants a last squad photo before your flights, now's the time. i've got a timer and exactly five minutes of patience left."
