As everyone was trying to welcome the Griffin of Pittsford-I'm not joking, that was the kingdom's literal name-, I was being interrogated by siblings who clearly didn't want to be within the same a hundred meters as each other. And if I'm being completely honest, I don't understand why anyone assigned the two.

"Ann, if you could just tell me what you remember," Taylor began. "I'm sure we can work off that."

I hesitated a moment too long.

"Your little attack wounded some of the most skilled guard on the force," Nickolas interrupted. "So kindly tell me why, or-"

"We are not threatening her," the younger sibling said in a calm and level voice that seemed to only further anger their brother. "Ann, I'm not blaming you. I just want to collect some information for the guard."

"I have no idea what happened," I said honestly. "One moment, I was laying in bed, the next...at Janis Point. I have no recollections of the time in between. Honest."

"Are you absolutely sure?" Taylor pressed gently. "There's nothing you remember?"

"Well...there was a bit of yelling," I said thoughtfully. "But that's it. I'm sure."

"Well then...I think that's all. Thanks for trying."

"Oh come on," Nickolas interrupted. "She's-"

"I'm not lying!" I insisted. "I swear."

"Nickolas," Taylor warned, eyes on a notebook. "We're done here. Both of us."

"According to the princess, she lied about her name easy enough. Even her entire story. For all we know-"

"Yes, I'll admit she is quite good. And for all I know, she could in fact be lying. And of course, you would know..." They sighed. "But anyways, that doesn't mean we should accuse her of everything simply because of an act of self-protection."They left, leaving me alone with the guard.

He growled and got to his feet. "For the record," he informed me, "I don't believe you." He started towards the door.

"I know," I shrugged. "Not like it makes a difference."

The door slammed so hard I thought it was going to fall off it's hinges.

"You did a real great job back there," Nick stormed, shoving past me.

"What do you mean?" I asked, eyes not leaving my notebook as I spoke.

"Oh, don't play innocent with me. You could've pressed her further than that. But no, I-"

"Alright then. If that's your opinion, then go right back and interrogate her. No one's stopping you."

"I would, but she gives me nothing but attitude. But another thing, what happened to being part of the family? You're a real hypocrite, you know that."

"No. Dad and I traveled to Corona recently. I asked him, and he agreed it would be nice to see me settled. So..." I waved a hand in the air, the injured one.

I move the notebook closer to my face and pretend to squint at the lines of tight and neat handwriting for a moment. However, I'm actually watching my brother's eyes catch sight of my bandaged hand and widen to three times their size. And then he turns around and storms down the hallway.

"Ann!" Rapunzel burst into the room, Nickolas right on her tail. "You won't believe what we found!"
