Chapter 47 + A/N Part 5

[Law's POV]

Clown-ya ushers me to his private lab. It was at the other end of the complex. On the way, I saw a large area with huge tankers and pipes.

Possibly, this is where he makes something for Joker.

He placed the hand on a small touchpad, next to a secured door. It emits a small beep and opens the door.

" Don't complain on the smell, I am working on something." Clown mutters as he switches on thr light

There are a few  flasks, filled with liquids in various colors ranging from Purple to Brown. His apparatus also includes some test tubes, boilers and machines.

" Project Hades was something Vegapunk was ordered to do that..After the Five Elders forced the disbandment of MADS."

Five Elders..I saw that term in the newspaper in the past when the Reverie happened a few years ago. It is the advisory body of the World Government who works along with the Marines. However, MADS..I have no Idea about it.

"MADS?"
" It's a kind of team of scientists including Vegapunk, Vinsmoke Judge, Kaido's Strongest Ally, Queen and a few more geniuses like me who worked with me."

Vinsmoke Judge, that name sounds familiar...

" Vegapunk is at some government facility. All I know that he's in the New World. Judge has his Mercenary army called Germa 66, along with four of his Children."

Germa 66! Now I remember! They were based in the North Blue and I read about them in Sora the Sea Warrior Comics!

" We discover a lot of stuff through the Lineage Factor which is the basic blueprint of life."

" And if you eat a Devil Fruit, it also gets modified?"

" Correct, however, some of us wanted to cross those limits. We were successful with Cloning. Judge, currently uses that tech for his army."

" What about replicating Devil Fruits?"
" Yes, about that..we were caught by the World Government which led to me and Vegapunk working with the government. They gave us this place and the resources, but we were ordered by the Five Elders to start working on Project Hades." He glanced at me as he finished his sentence

" What did the World Government wanted?"
" A Modified Human with World Destroying Abilities." he sighs

A walking sign of destruction - Y/N's powers could change the world.

" Modified Humans?" I ask
" Giving them enhancements, engineering one's genes to activate or deactivate certain traits."

" Deactivation of Traits? How is that Possible?" I look with doubt

" It was tricky for sure, that's why we kidnapped children, easier to influence and change their genetic makeup during puberty." he cackled

" The same reason you brought those kids there?" I ask while holding my disappointment in him

You are no different than Joker.

" Of Course, Trafalgar. Want to hear more about this project?"

" Yes, Probably it will make it easy for me to connect the dots."

" Alright..where was I?"

He continued to elaborate more about "Project Hades". The original plan was on replicating the ancient weapon Pluton through a Human form, however they had to take a different approach since the Blueprints for Pluton were missing.

" We ended up taking a sample of two Devil Fruits - The "Kage-Kage no Mi" for its Shadow Abilities and the "Yami-Yami No Mi" for its darkness elements. The Devil Fruits of Gecko Moria and unfortunately, Blackbeard" He explains

Blackbeard did the impossible by consuming two devil fruits and still being alive.  Gecko Moria is one of the Warlords of the Sea whom I never met.

" Vegapunk used a serum made up of Green Blood to infuse this fusion of devil fruits."

" Having two devil fruits is impossible, due to the genetic modification."

" Thats correct, Unless you are Blackbeard. Hence, he tried to focus on specific elements of each fruit, in hopes that the test subjects could develop their own unique abilities."

Which makes her powers one of a kind.

" He theorised that if it became successful, the subject would radiate an aura, similar to Conquror's Haki."

" What was the theorised type of aura?"
" An energy that reminds of Death."

" Did anyone ever survive from this?"
" As per the records none, and if someone out there survived...The World Government, Emperors, All power pirates would be on their tail, including me."

" Hypothetically, if anyone who survived this project can destroy anything."

" Only if they are using their powers to the full extent."

However, she's able to retain her emotions. Maybe, the powers are targeting her Haki which leads to the backlash when she's over her limits.

" Interesting...Was there any other feature that you focused on? Regarding the Test Subjects?

" Yes, two pointers. One, they are young kids, not babies, around the ages of 4 or 5 or maybe 6. Second, They should have a lot of Haki, especially strong Observation Haki."

All of this makes sense. She's unsafe here. I have to let her escape.

It's been a while since I wrote a message to you all. Thank you for giving this story a lot of love. I am grateful to have crossed 40K+ Reads in 2 years and read your reactions on the plots of the story.

I am glad to see that my take on Trafalgar Law is highly appreciated. I wanted to focus on his persona beyond the stoic captain and see him as an adult struggling to heal with his past through another person who could relate to him.

Though, this story will end in 8 Chapters. The characters you love will be back in the sequel, following the developments in Wano and the Final Saga. It will take some time for the second boom to release since I need will be re-reading the Wano and Egghead Arcs and how to connect with the storylines that will continue in the two books.
