ACT I: Chapter One
Hunter gasped for air as he ran through the alleyways of Latissa. Three angry people plus a demon chased after him shouting crude and awful things that Hunter never once heard before in his life, but could easily tell meant nothing good.
Oh Titan, oh Titan, oh my freaking Titan, was all he could think as he tripped over a basket filled with fresh fruit beside a stand. He nearly fell over, but he managed to catch himself and continued to run as the vendor shouted even worse curses at him.
"Sorry!" He called out, but he was already out of earshot and the angry men and the demon were catching up to him at an alarming rate.
How could he have been so stupid? Stupid Hunter, stupid! This only happened because he wanted to sneak out of the castle past curfew, this only happened because he didn't take the Silver Knight's advice and just stayed put Titan dammit!
"Please don't kill me!" He cried out as he rounded a corner. He hoped to lose the small- but very furious- mob behind him by taking as many sharp turns as possible.
But so far that wasn't working in his favor at all.So instead he kept running.
He didn't know where he was or where he was going. Heck! He didn't even know the streets of Latissa that well, save for maybe Main Street.
Tears welled up in his golden brown eyes as he stumbled over bumps in the unpaved dirt road.
Usually, he would beg the Silver Knight to go outside and take a walk in any city, but now, all he wanted was to curl up in his bed and go to sleep. He was beginning to understand why his Uncle insisted on keeping him locked up in the castle.
Hunter was hungry when he approached a stand run by the three men and the demon who all wanted him dead now. He asked if he could have some fruit and the demon rolled his eyes and said 'duh'.
So he took the fruit and ate it.
He didn't realize he still had to pay for things being the crowned Prince of the Boiling Isles! None of the vendors specified that either... how was he supposed to know?!
When the other men by the demon's side demanded he pay up, Hunter's instincts kicked in.
Which only consists of running away.He didn't have any snails on him anyway.
So there he was, feeling genuine fear for his life for the first time as he ran away from the group that had now resorted to throwing knives at him.
Awesome! Great! Life was just peachy for Hunter Wittebane!
"I DIDN'T KNOW I HAD TO PAY!!" Hunter shouts over his shoulder.
The demon snarled and a dark curly-haired man glared daggers into his soul, "LIAR! You are a thief! Just wait until I get my hands on you, boy!"
"No thanks, I think I'm good!" Hunter yells back and a knife whizzed past him and just barely misses his head. Uh oh.
He summoned every bit of strength in his scrawny body and ran even faster. He weaved through crowds of people, pushing humans to the side and "accidentally" kicking small demons out of his way.
He needed to hide, immediately. He paused, his eyes darting around looking for a hiding place.
They landed on another alleyway. It was hidden behind a rack of dusty old tapestries and barrels."Bingo," He murmured, rushing over. He pushed the barrels aside and crawled underneath the rack of tapestries. As he stood up, he brushed the dirt off his new pants and looked up. The alleyway was nestled between two tall buildings. Each is about three stories tall.
