Chapter 11
I took a private train back to district 1 a few days later.
The entire ride I was reading the capital news letters from while I was gone. They were mainly about who the writers though would win each day and what important events happened the previous day.
They thought Sloane or Xander would win before I killed them. Then the rest of the days I was the tribute voted most likely to win.
On day 3 the most eventful thing was me killing all the careers minus Leo.
Then when the game was over there was an article about me and my life. It was manly about why I signed up to train for the hunger games. It was also about all my kills in the games.
The article had a picture of me at the Victor's celebration with my name at the top.
When I hit of the train there was an audience of just people who work at the train station. The peacekeepers had to clear a path so I could get by.
I got outside and stood on the stage. I looked and saw almost everyone from district 11 was there.
Leo was at the front of the crowd. I could see him jumping in excitement.
I just smiled and waved.
I looked around some more. I was trying to find Leo's parents. They weren't there as far as I could tell.
The peacekeepers escorted me off stage and helped get to Leo in the crowd. Then they took us home.
For the rest of the day we just layed on the couch and watched movies.
I didn't really pay attention. I had my own movie playing in my head. Expect this one didn't have a good ending and it was horrific.
But when I looked at Leo, I felt guilty. 23 kids were dead and would never get to see their families again. And I survived just to see my brother again.
