"Sho?" she called as she entered their apartment, latching the door behind her.
"We're in here," Aizawa called out to her.
She smelled chicken broth, noodles, and charred pork belly. Eri's laughter rang through the apartment. Ruka smiled as she took off her shoes, Eri's laughter was contagious.
"Ru!" Eri ran to Ruka and wrapped her arms around her leg.
"Hi Eri," Ruka smiled down at the girl and gently brushed hair from her face, "What are you coloring?"
Eri pulled Ruka to the low table where she colored a fairy, "Look, she's kinda like you!"
"But I have bird wings, not butterfly wings," Ruka pointed out.
"Not that! Look, she's so pretty! Just like you!"
"Aww, Eri!" Ruka laughed, "Thank you."
"We're making ramen for you," she smiled, Aizawa scoffed as he, alone, shredded green onions. Eri clasped her hands together, "It's your favorite right?"
"It smells delicious! How did you know I love ramen?"
"Mr. Aizawa told me!"
"Ohhh, wow, thanks Mr. Aizawa," Ruka looked over her shoulder and through her feathers meeting Aizawa's eyes.
"Wanna color with me?"
"Of course I do," Ruka smiled at Aizawa, knowing how much he loved the way she looked at him through her feathers. She got onto to the floor and began to color fairies with Eri.

After dinner, Ruka tucked Eri into bed and read her a story. She turned on an All Might nightlight and gently shut the door behind her.
She padded into her room and began to get ready for bed herself. After she saw Hawks, she patrolled her district. It was a slow Sunday and she couldn't have been more grateful for it.
"So, what did Hawks need to talk to you about so badly?" Aizawa asked, leaning against the doorframe of the bathroom while Ruka brushed her teeth.
Looking into the mirror and meeting his eyes, she kept her face calm through her lie, "He was struggling with some childhood memories."
Aizawa crossed his arms, "Oh. I'm sorry."
"Sho," she asked as she turned away from the mirror and sink, "Are you ready to talk about it?"
"No," he didn't move from the doorway, "I don't think I'll ever be ready to talk about it."
Ruka stood on her tippy toes, her wings slightly spread out for balance, "I get it. But, maybe, that's exactly why you should."
His lips were pressed together and it was as if he was frozen in thought. She could feel it. His troubled mind just waiting to be read. It was heavy, knowledge screaming for her to take.
No.
"Sho, I know that face, you know you can talk to me, always," she tucked strands of hair behind his ear, another habit of hers that he adored.
"You've had a long day."
She shrugged and led him to their bed.
"You're still coming with me to the school tomorrow right?"
"Of course," she nodded. She was helping Aizawa mentor Shinso. Psychic hero types needed ample training to hone their minds. Due to its sensitive nature, finding enough teachers was a challenge for UA.

Shinso flew through the air. He had her cornered and was about to land his attack. She grit her teeth, regretting the moment she had agreed to fight him without using her wings. Battle, big or small, was something Ruka specialized in – no she reveled in. But those days were long behind her after she left the Hero Public Safety Commission.
