"So, you're saying you haven't had any contact with Ruka in the past two days?"
"Yes," Hawks repeated. He didn't know if he should be worried or not. If something were to go wrong, all of this would be his fault. Not that he had much of a choice. The Hero Commission didn't allow for much room in these matters.
"You think she's been captured by the League of Villains, who she actively set out to infiltrate," the Commissioner was condescending, "Forgive me, Hawks, but it seems like she has done exactly what has been asked of her. Unlike you."
"I'm trying. I am," he said, "They're ridiculously organized but not at the same time. Listen, all I want to do is just report her as missing. Sell the act." It was deeper than that. He wanted the League to understand how important she was to society. He needed to raise the stakes to ensure she would be kept safe. Killing a hero that was beloved by all would guarantee in a huge loss of support.

Aizawa sat in the teacher's lounge, forcing himself to eat his lunch. All he could think about was the look on Ruka's face as he had broken her heart. It was only a couple days but they hadn't made any advancements on the League of Villains.
He had gone by the apartment last night to check in on Ruka but she hadn't been home. He went to Hawk's apartment and saw something he wished he could erase from his own head, but no Ruka.
He was unsure if he should bother texting her. She hadn't responded to any of his other texts. His fingers lingered over the keyboard.
Can we talk?
He pressed 'Send.'
Idle chatter came to a complete stop and Midnight turned the volume up on the T.V. A news reporter stood in a busy street and looked directly into the camera, "This just in, Pro Hero, Ruka, has been reported missing after she failed to report for three of her patrol shifts. At this time, we are unable to get in contact with Pro Hero, Hawks, or Pro Hero, Eraserhead. We'll report more as the case develops."
Aizawa stood up, causing the chair he had been sitting in to fall back. No one had tried to contact him at all.
Every teacher looked to him, concern all over their faces.
He turned on his heel and headed straight to see Nezu who was opening the door of his office, "Ah, Aizawa, I was just about to come look for you. I see you just saw the news?"
"Has anyone tried to contact me?"
"No, I was going to ask why you haven't responded to the press," Nezu waved him into the office, "I understand how you feel about them, but this is important."
"You think I don't know that?" Aizawa asked, he spoke through his teeth, "No one has contacted me."
Nezu placed his paw on his chin, "Then this is news that someone gave to the press without them doing any research on."
"I need you to have someone watch my kids," he said before running out of the office and straight towards the apartment he and Ruka once shared.
When he arrived, he knocked on the door, hoping the past forty-five minutes – wishing the past few days –were all a bad dream. He knocked again and waited. He paced outside the door and when it was clear that no one was answering the door, he kicked it in.
Everything was in disturbingly neat. No one had been here for days. He went to their room to find that most of her clothes were missing.
Aizawa rushed out, making his way to Hawks's apartment. At this point, he wasn't thinking. He was well aware of the bitterness that Hawks held towards him but didn't care. This was so much bigger than that.
