Drew Hayden lowered his sunglasses just slightly so he can get a discreet look. He was at the beach, resting on his towel with his head on his hands, and his look toward the right.
"Just go talk to her already."
Gary was on his right, half asleep half awake. He was tired from swimming and was lying down working on his tan. On Drew's left, lay down Ash's towel. He and Gary's girlfriend, Leaf, were gone to get some drinks.
"Shhh."
"You're pathetic, Hayden."
Gary lifted his head up and grinned. Drew didn't even see him do that. He was still looking toward the right, where she and a bunch of girls were playing volleyball.
"Shut up."
Gary propped himself up with his elbow and turned to the right. "Which one?"
"The red and white bikini."
"Ooh..." Gary took off his sunglasses, trying to catch sight of the said girl. He cursed right when he caught sight of her breasts and turned toward Drew.
"Those things are huge!"
"Yeah yeah yeah - now quit checking out May and go back to your tan. I'm telling Leaf, by the way."
Gary rolled his eyes. He checked out the girl again. "If I'm not mistaken, she has few classes with Ash. I think I've seen her with him before."
"I don't think so. She's majoring in biology, and this is her first year."
Gary shrugged and put his sunglasses on. He went back to lying down and placed his hands behind his head.
"Why won't that ball come to this direction..." Drew grumbled under his breath, still staring at the same direction. May was giving her back to him.
"We're baaack!" Leaf's voice could be heard. Gary and Drew looked up. Ash threw them the cold beers as Leaf walked over to her spot beside Gary.
"Thanks."
Right when Ash sat down and started sipping his beer, Drew spoke up, "Hey man, can you switch spots?"
"Huh?"
"You're blocking his view! There is a girl from our university over there he's been watching." Gary jumped up into the conversation. Drew glared at him.
"Really? Where?" Ash turned around and scanned the area. Drew hid his face with his hands. Ash was just so obvious!
"It's the girl over there! Hey, maybe you know her. I thought I saw you with her before!" Gary spoke in a loud voice, gaining few looks from people who passed by. Drew wanted the sand to swallow him. Were Ash and Gary doing this on purpose?
"May Maple?"
Drew jumped from his spot. He grabbed Ash from his shoulders. "You know her?"
"Calm down! And yeah. She's a freshman. She asked me to help her with organic chemistry. Why?"
"Holy organic chemistry!" Gary said and laughed, throwing hi head to the back and making a show again. Leaf was just giggling and shaking her head at her boyfriend. "Pass her to Drew, please."
"Do you have her phone number?" Drew asked, a bit hesitant.
"Uh, no, I don't. She comes to me whenever she needs something."
"Pffft..."
"I can do this though!" Ash winked at his friends and started walking toward the girls who were playing volleyball. Gary was cheering loudly from his spot and Drew buried his face in his hands; his friends were just so loud and obvious! Why can't they watch girls discreetly? The attention was just uncalled for.
"See? You owe Ash your life!"
"Shut up! Shut up! Ugh!"
Drew and Gary watched for a moment as Ash walked toward May and started talking to her. Drew's heart fluttered when Ash pointed at them.
"I think he's telling her to join us!"
"Don't do this, Ash..." Drew mumbled. He started freaking out when Ash and May started walking toward them. "Oh no, he did it..."
"Hohohohohohohooo..." Gary was enjoying this. He gave Drew an amused look. Drew stuck his middle finger to him. Leaf rolled her eyes and turned to rest on the other side. She was ignoring completely what was happening. Boys.
"What? You should be glad! Ash saved you so much pain and time!"
"Shut up. They're coming."
Drew cleared his throat when Ash and May were finally on the top of them. "Guys, this is May."
"Hi guys."
"Hello May, I'm Gary."
"Leaf," The brown haired girl spoke up, her back still given to her friends.
"I'm Drew..."
"This is Drew, the guy I told you about." Ash grinned sheepishly as he looked between May and Drew. This latter looked completely nervous. What the hell has Ash told the girl?
"Oh, thank you so much, Drew! It means so much to me." May clapped her hands together. She bent down and grabbed her phone from her armband. "When are we starting? I should probably give you my phone number since you attend another college, right?"
Drew gave Ash a puzzled look. He attends another college? What? Ash shrugged his shoulders and waved with his hand to Drew, as if he was trying to tell him to just play along.
"Oh- oh, right. Here."
Ash grabbed his towel silently and put it beside Leaf. He and Gary high five'd. The two lay down on their abdomens but were carefully listening to the conversation.
"Ash did really explain very well the courses but too bad he no longer has time for me. Though, he said you're pretty good at chemistry since you're majoring in Physics and Chemistry!"
"Uhm- yeah. I'm good." Drew smirked. He couldn't help but flick his eyes down now and then to glance at her chest. Eye contact with this girl was an impossible mission. How come Ash was able to tutor her and not get distracted?
"It's good too that you do it for free - you know, I haven't found a job yet, and I can't really afford any paid courses."
"It's okay. I'd do it for free if it's for you."
"Oooh, thank you!"
Ash and Gary exchanged a look. They grinned. Drew was flirting already?
"Hey May, would you like to grab a bite?"
"Sure!" May got up quickly
"I don't think I'll be back, guys." Drew whispered to his friends with a small grin as he got up and grabbed his towel.
"Come on, Drew!" May called out after she started walking away.
"Bye guys."
"Yeah, bye Drew, and you're welcome."
"Oh Ash."
THE END.
Because Ash is definitely a Contestshipper.
