Pokeshipping: Best friends

Misty has been best friends with Ash ever since they were ten.

They were everywhere together; at school, at the mall, at the library, at her house watching a movie, at his house baking for Mother's Day, or even outside, taking a walk. They were always with each other, laughing at stupid jokes, eating snacks and laughing about embracing their fat.

Growing up, they grew closer and closer. Misty shared everything (literally) with Ash, and this latter shared everything with her too. The two knew each other like open books. They were best buddies, and everyone envied them for having such beautiful friendship.

Friendship?

They had feelings for each other.

When they started their junior year, Ash told Misty he had feelings for her, and more than once. Misty never confessed her love to Ash though, and every time they spoke about it, Misty changes the subject. Eventually, Ash stopped saying he loved Misty — he's had enough by the time she was ready to blurt out her feelings.

So she kept them for herself, and they were back to their 'friendship' again.

Summer rolled by, and Ash had a month to spend at his father's house in Viridian. After a long battle at courts, it was the first time his dad ever gets to have him at his house stay more than a week. Misty knew how much Ash appreciated his father's company, and she knew she'd miss him a lot, but if that made Ash happy, she's happy.

During that whole month, she and Ash spoke every day. They still laughed at stupid jokes and made fun of their eating habits. They told each other everything, and Ash sounded rather happy at his second home. Misty was happy for him too, and she couldn't wait for the day when he'd get back home and she'd get to see him.

Two days before Ash gets home, everything drastically changes; Ash and Misty were texting, and unusually, Ash was just giving short answers, and taking a lifetime to. It was totally not him.

Misty: Are you okay, Ash?

Misty only got the answer after fifteen minutes — which seemed like an eternity to her.

Ash: Yes

Of course, Misty's replies were quick.

Misty: Are you busy? Am I bothering you?

He took an eternity again. It upset Misty. She felt as he was mad at her for some reason.

Ash: No

Misty: Well, you look busy

That time, Ash replied quicker,

Ash: No I'm just talking to my girlfriend as well

Misty saw her world fall to pieces right before her eyes. She felt mad, angry, sad, frustrated — a mix of emotions that is.

Best friend? My ass.

Since when he had a girlfriend? And why didn't he tell Misty about her? Weren't they supposed to share anything and everything? And what about all those times he's told her he loved her? And what about Misty? What about her feelings toward him? What about them?

Misty has asked him the most obvious question:

Misty: You have a girlfriend? Since when? You never told me!

Ash: It's back from when I went to Viridian to see my dad no big deal

Misty: This time?

Ash: No like two or three months ago

Misty got angrier with every word Ash typed. How could he? He said he loved her — well, maybe he lied, but she was his best friend. Why did Ash hide his girlfriend from her?
